Full Description

Position Overview The Hospice Shop Clerk provides the Hospice Shop Manager with support in the day-to-day operations of the thrift shop. Responsible for the opening and closing of the store as needed, sorting donations, keeping the shop organized and clean, merchandising the sales floor, and operating the cash register. Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Greet and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner. • Sort, price, and display donated merchandise according to store guidelines. • Answers the telephone and takes accurate messages. • Operates the point-of-sale (POS) system and handles transactions accurately. • Assists customers and responds to customer and volunteer questions and issues as needed. • Maintains cleanliness and organization of the sales floor. • Assists with receiving and processing donations, including lifting and moving items. • Monitors inventory levels and restock shelves as needed. • Follows all safety and loss prevention procedures. • Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager. Environmental Conditions and Physical Requirements • Regularly sitting, standing, walking, talking, use of hands, listening, and observing. • Regularly working at the cash register 2-4 hours. • Regularly using the telephone. • Regularly reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and lifting items weighing 50 pounds or less. Minimum Qualifications • High school diploma or equivalent. • One year experience working with the general public, preferably in retail. • Highly organized and efficient self-starter who can establish priorities. • Ability to operate a point-of-sale (POS) system. • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain a clean, organized store environment. • Excellent customer service skills. • Ability to work flexible hours, including Saturdays.
