Full Description

HolyGround.com is a Catholic theology website with completed designs and multiple development needs. We need a contract Next.js developer to implement: • A lead magnet funnel (smaller task) • An online Bible reader (major task) • A site-wide search experience suitable for a statically generated Next.js architecture Scope of WorkPhase 1: Lead Magnet Funnel (Small Build) • Add new popup behavior (including second-click trigger) per design/spec • Add/update CTA components sitewide • Implement signup flow and automated free eBook PDF delivery • Add analytics events for conversion tracking Phase 2: Online Bible Reader (Major Build) • Build reader UI from finalized designs and Bible files • Implement navigation for books, chapters, and verses • Integrate scripture data source/API • Optimize for performance, accessibility, SEO, and mobile UX • Deliver clean handoff documentation Phase 3: Search (Static Next.js Site) • Design and implement a robust search approach compatible with SSG • Build indexing pipeline (build-time and/or external index strategy) • Implement search UI with relevance ranking and fast response time • Support core content types and theological article discovery • Include practical considerations for future content updates/re-indexing Required Skills • Strong production experience with Next.js, React, TypeScript • Experience building search in static or hybrid-rendered web apps • API integration and scalable data-fetching patterns • Front-end performance optimization (Core Web Vitals) • Accessibility best practices • Clear communication and reliable milestone delivery Nice to Have • Experience with content-heavy reader interfaces • Experience with search providers/libraries (e.g., Algolia, Meilisearch, Typesense, Lunr/Fuse-based indexing) • Experience implementing analytics for funnel and search behavior Estimated Effort (for applicant quoting) • Lead magnet: 15–30 hours • Bible reader: 120–260 hours • Search implementation: 25–60 hours • Total estimated range: 160–350 hours How to Apply Please include: • A statement of your own Catholic commitment • 2–3 relevant Next.js projects (live links + code sample if available) • Your role in each project • Your hourly rate and availability • Your estimated hours for (1) Lead magnet implementation, (2) Bible reader implementation, and (3) Search implementation on a static Next.js site Depending on how this work goes, we are happy to rehire for ongoing work in the future.
