JOB • *This position is located in Holly Springs, N.C.**POSITION SUMMARYThe Town of Holly Springs Police Department is seeking a part-time Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Analyst to provide specialized analytical support in the identification, investigation, and prosecution of offenders involved in online child exploitation. The ICAC Analyst will work closely with the ICAC Detective and Crime Analyst to review cyber tips, analyze digital communications, conduct open-source intelligence (OSINT) research, and manage sensitive digital evidence.This position requires exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to handle highly sensitive material with confidentiality and professionalism.SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPSThe ICAC Analyst reports directly to the Full-Time Crime Analyst and works in close coordination with the assigned ICAC Detective. The position has no supervisory responsibilities. Work is performed independently within established protocols and guidelinesThis is an on-site temporary part-time, non-benefited position, up to 20 hours a week (depending on caseload), with a maximum of 1000 hours per year. Starting salary is $25 per hour. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSCase Support & Analysis• Review and manage digital material uploaded to Griffeye, ensuring accurate categorization of imagery in accordance with federal ICAC standards (e.g., Cat 1, Cat 2).• Analyze and summarize chat communications associated with ICAC investigations; provide timely and detailed case synopses to the assigned ICAC Detective.• Provide case support as requested, including data entry, record verification, and analytical summaries.Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Monitoring• Monitor and manage P2P network activity related to suspected child exploitation material.• Identify and notify the ICAC Detective of confirmed or suspected local downloads.NCMEC CyberTip Support• Conduct OSINT investigations in support of NCMEC CyberTipline reports, including subject identification and case triage.• Utilize social media platforms, online databases, and open-source tools to locate individuals, corroborate investigative findings, and develop actionable leads.• Run deconfliction checks on usernames, emails, and identifiers using ICAC COPS, IDS, and other relevant systems.EXPECTATIONS• Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with all legal and ethical standards when handling sensitive materials.• Demonstrate knowledge of ICAC protocols, digital evidence handling, and image classification standards.• Communicate findings clearly, promptly, and professionally with the ICAC Detective and investigative team.• Exhibit strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple case assignments within deadlines.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES• Knowledge of ICAC investigative protocols, Griffeye, and related forensic tools preferred.• Familiarity with OSINT methods, online investigations, and P2P monitoring software.• Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting investigative findings.• Ability to apply discretion, judgment, and tact when handling highly sensitive or disturbing material.• Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking skills.• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and law enforcement databases.
