Job Summary Hog Slat, Inc., the world's largest provider of equipment and turnkey facilities to the swine and poultry industries, is seeking a Transportation Clerk to join the team at our location in Newton Grove, NC. A Transportation Clerksupports the efficient movement of goods and products by coordinating with drivers, logistics personnel, and other departments. This role requires strong organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure timely and accurate scheduling, tracking, and documentation of shipments. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other functions may be assigned as business conditions change. SCHEDULING AND DISPATCHING • Coordinate and schedule shipments, dispatch drivers, and arrange transportation routes. • Adjust schedules as needed to accommodate last-minute changes or delays TRACKING AND MONITORING SHIPMENTS • Track the progress of shipments in transit to ensure on-time delivery • Communicate with drivers and carriers to monitor delivery times, route changes, and any issues during transit DATA ENTRY AND RECORD-KEEPING • Maintain accurate records of shipments, including dates, times, locations, and cargo details • Enter shipment details and update logs in transportation management software or databases DOCUMENTATION AND COMPLIANCE • Prepare and review shipping documents, including bills of lading, invoices, customs forms, and other required paperwork • Ensure all shipments comply with legal regulations and company policies CUSTOMER AND VENDOR COMMUNICATION • Provide timely updates to customers and vendors on shipment status. • Address inquiries, resolve shipment issues, and handle complaints professionally PROBLEM SOLVING AND ISSUE RESOLUTION • Identify and address potential issues, such as delays, equipment problems, or routing errors • Collaborate with team members to resolve issues quickly and efficiently SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED The ideal candidate will have the following experience/educational background: • High school diploma or equivalent; an Associate Degree in logistics or a related field is a plus • Experience in transportation, logistics, or a similar field preferred • Strong organizational, time-management, and communication skills • Proficiency in using logistics or transportation management software • Ability to handle multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment Hog Slat Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, national origin, age disability, veteran status or any other reason prohibited under Federal State or local laws.
