Lead and perform comprehensive business analysis activities for large-scale initiatives, mentoring others and ensuring best practices.
8+ years of business analysis experience, preferably within insurance, with skills in process modeling, data analysis, and stakeholder management.
About the position The Business Analysis Director will operate at both strategic and execution levels—partnering with business and technology stakeholders to define solutions that drive meaningful impact across our insurance value chain. In this role, you’ll be hands-on in performing business analysis activities while also mentoring analysts, shaping best practices, and raising the overall standard of analysis across projects. This position is critical to enabling successful delivery of initiatives that improve underwriting, operations, claims, and customer experience. Responsibilities • Hands-On Business Analysis Execution: Lead and personally perform end-to-end business analysis activities for key initiatives—requirements elicitation, business process analysis, gap analysis, and future-state design. • Translate complex business needs into clear and concise business, functional, and non-functional requirements. • Facilitate workshops, stakeholder interviews, and working sessions to define problems, uncover opportunities, and validate solutions. • Collaborate closely with product managers, project managers, developers, and QA teams to ensure requirements are understood, testable, and traceable. • Leadership & Best Practices: Serve as the lead BA on large-scale programs or multiple smaller projects, balancing execution with oversight responsibilities. • Define and promote BA standards, tools, and templates that align with delivery methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid). • Provide coaching, mentoring, and peer reviews for other BAs to support high-quality outputs and consistent practices. • Champion continuous improvement by identifying areas for efficiency and standardization in business analysis practices. • Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a strategic partner to business leaders, ensuring that solutions are aligned with business goals and deliver measurable value. • Bridge the gap between business and technology to ensure shared understanding and successful delivery. • Support change readiness activities by contributing to training, communication, and adoption planning as needed. Requirements • 8+ years of hands-on business analysis experience, including leading analysis efforts for large or complex initiatives. • Strong understanding of insurance operations, ideally within the Small Commercial or P&C sector (underwriting, claims, policy admin, etc.). • Proven ability to deliver high-quality requirements artifacts and facilitate cross-functional collaboration. • Experience with process modeling, data analysis, and workflow documentation tools (e.g., Visio, Lucidchart, Jira, Confluence, SQL). • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, either through direct management or mentorship of BAs. Nice-to-haves • CBAP, PMI-PBA, or similar certification is a plus. Benefits • Competitive salary and bonus (based on personal & company performance) • 401(k) with competitive company matching • Comprehensive health insurance, vision, dental and FSA plans (medical, limited purpose, and dependent care) • Company paid group term life, short- term disability and long-term disability coverage • 24 Paid time off days, 2 Hiscox Days, 10 paid holidays, and ability to purchase 5 PTO days • Paid parental leave • 4 week paid sabbatical after every 5 years of service • Financial Adoption Assistance and Medical Travel Reimbursement Programs • Annual reimbursement up to \$600 for health club membership or fees associated with any fitness program • Company paid subscription to Headspace to support employees’ mental health and wellbeing • Recipient of 2024 Cigna’s Well-Being Award for having a best-in-class health and wellness program • Dynamic, creative and values-driven culture • Modern and open office spaces, complimentary drinks
