Company Description The Large Public Power Council (LPPC) represents 29 of the largest public power systems in the United States, serving 30 million consumers across 21 states and Puerto Rico. Based in Washington, DC, LPPC advocates for federal policies that enable its members to provide clean, reliable, and affordable energy to the communities they serve. As not-for-profit, community-owned utilities, LPPC's members prioritize reinvestment back into their regions. The organization works to promote sustainable energy solutions while addressing the needs of millions of American families and businesses. Role Description This is a full-time, remote role for a Senior Director, Policy and External Affairs at the Large Public Power Council. The Senior Director will lead policy development and advocacy efforts, engaging with governmental bodies, policymakers, and other relevant stakeholders. Responsibilities include managing legislative and regulatory priorities, developing strategic plans, overseeing external communications, and fostering relationships with government officials. The role also entails aligning LPPC’s objectives with industry trends to ensure effective strategic communications and advocacy. Qualifications • Experience in Governmental Affairs, Government Relations, and Legislative Relations. • Strong skills in Strategic Planning and the ability to align objectives with long-term organizational goals. • Proficiency in Strategic Communications, including the ability to craft messages and manage stakeholder engagement effectively. • Exceptional leadership, organizational, and interpersonal abilities to drive policy and external affairs initiatives. • Proven experience working in public policy related to energy, utilities, or a relevant industry is highly desirable. • Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Communications, or a related field; advanced degree preferred but not required.
