Customer Identity Lead Engineer Type: Direct Hire Location: Phoenix, AZ (Hybrid) This is a hybrid position in Phoenix, Arizona, and we prefer candidates in the Phoenix area. Work model may require being in the office daily some weeks, while other weeks may be fully remote. Summary: We are seeking a Customer Identity Lead Engineer to lead a small, high-performing team and drive the design, development, and support of customer identity and authentication systems. The role combines hands-on full-stack development with leadership responsibilities and interaction with both internal and external stakeholders. Key Responsibilities: • Lead a team of 5–8 developers and testers, with people management responsibilities expected over time. • Build and support customer identity systems focusing on Okta and full-stack development (Java, Node.js). • Design and manage authentication systems, access permissions, login experiences, and passwordless authentication. • Collaborate with mobile teams on app prototyping using Flutter and React Native. • Perform code reviews, set technical standards, and ensure best practices are followed. • Interact with customers and stakeholders for requirements, support, and demos. • Participate in occasional Friday evening deployments and system changes. Qualifications: • 8+ years of experience in full-stack development, cloud technologies, and customer identity systems. • Hands-on experience with Java, Node.js, React, Mobile frameworks, AWS, and Cloud Architecture. • Strong leadership skills with experience mentoring or leading small teams. • Knowledge of authentication protocols: OAuth, SAML, OpenID Connect. • Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
