Main Duties • Serve as the primary technical liaison between Heron Tech and customers, supporting sales, installation, and service of joining equipment (riveting, welding, and clinching systems). • Provide hands-on technical assistance during machine installations, commissioning, and maintenance at customer sites. • Participate in and lead demonstrations, testing, and training activities in Heron’s Solutions Lab to showcase product capabilities and develop custom joining solutions. • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, or PLC-related equipment issues on-site or remotely. • Prepare and deliver technical presentations that explain Heron Tech’s products and value proposition to potential and existing customers. • Collaborate with the Sales and Engineering teams to develop proposals, quotations, and technical documentation. • Travel to customer sites (domestic and international) for sales meetings, service visits, trade shows, and technical support—expected travel 40–60% of the time. • Maintain accurate records of service work, project progress, and customer communications in CRM and ERP systems. • Stay current on metal joining technologies, materials (steel, aluminum, copper, magnesium, HSS, cast materials, stainless steel), and industry best practices. • Support continuous improvement of Heron’s product offerings and customer satisfaction by providing feedback to Engineering and Product Management teams. Skills and Qualifications • Excellent technical communication and customer-facing presentation skills. • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities across mechanical, electrical, and control systems. • Working knowledge of PLC programming, industrial automation, or robotics preferred. • Familiarity with material joining technologies (resistance welding, self-piercing riveting, clinching, or fastening). • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and electrical diagrams. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CAD viewing software, and ERP/CRM systems. • Strong time-management and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects. • Willingness to travel extensively and work independently in field environments. Education and Experience Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Welding, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent technical discipline). • 2–5 years of experience in a Sales Engineer, Field Service Engineer, or Technical Specialist role within manufacturing or automation industries preferred. • Experience in the automotive, aerospace, appliance, or general industrial sectors advantageous. • Previous experience with capital equipment installation, maintenance, or commissioning a plus. Employment Terms Rate of pay: Salary commensurate with experience. Normal hours of work: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with additional travel or extended hours as required. Working hours: 8:00-4:00pm (flexible) Working location: 7750 Zionsville Road, Suite 800, Indianapolis, IN 46268, with travel to customer sites. Overtime rate: Not applicable/Exempt. Breaks: 30 mins. for lunch. (2) 15 min. breaks (1) morning & (1) afternoon Holiday year: 1st January to 31st December. Paid time-off entitlement: In accordance with company policy.
