Full Description

Project Manager / Project Supervisor – Historic Preservation Heritage Restoration, Inc. is seeking a motivated preservation professional to join our team in a hybrid role that combines elements of project management, supervision, and, depending on experience, estimating and project development. This position is ideal for someone with a background in historic preservation, construction management, or traditional trades who thrives in a collaborative environment and values craftsmanship, communication, and problem-solving. About Us Heritage Restoration, Inc. is a small, full-service historic preservation contracting company based in Rhode Island. We specialize in window and door restoration, millwork reproduction, and the conservation of historic structures throughout New England. Our strength lies in matching people’s skills to the challenges at hand, creating a workplace where collaboration, adaptability, and trust are essential. We rely on our talented field crew to manage job sites day to day, with oversight and support from our management team. Everyone here contributes to the success of a project, from the shop to the office to the field, and we expect all team members to bring solid problem-solving skills to their work. Position Overview This position is designed with flexibility in mind: we’re looking for the right person first and will shape the role around your experience and interests. The Project Manager / Supervisor will work closely with company leadership to coordinate active projects, support estimating and proposal development, and serve as a key liaison between clients, project partners, and the Heritage Restoration team. While not a field management role, the selected candidate will spend approximately one month in the shop and on job sites early in their tenure, working alongside our crew to understand our preservation methods, workflow, and company culture. Key Responsibilities · Coordinate project logistics, schedules, materials, and communication between clients, consultants, and internal teams. · Review drawings, specifications, and field conditions to identify preservation-sensitive solutions and anticipate logistical challenges. · Assist in project development, including scope clarification, document review, and proposal preparation. · Support estimating and budgeting for preservation and restoration projects (as experience allows). · Provide oversight and assistance to field crews, who are responsible for day-to-day site management. · Monitor project progress, documentation, and quality to ensure adherence to company standards and client expectations. · Contribute to internal systems and workflows for documentation, communication, and quality control. · Represent Heritage Restoration, Inc. professionally in client meetings, site visits, and industry gatherings. Qualifications · Minimum of 5 years’ experience in historic preservation, construction project management, or related field. · Knowledge of traditional building systems and the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation. · Strong organizational, logistical, and communication skills, with comfort managing multiple projects. · Experience reading and interpreting architectural drawings and specifications. · Demonstrated problem-solving ability in both technical and interpersonal situations. · Proficiency in standard office software; familiarity with estimating or project management tools a plus. · Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites across southern New England. Preferred Qualities Experience in window and door restoration, wood conservation, or traditional trades. Strong interest in craftsmanship, materials conservation, and long-term stewardship of historic buildings. Collaborative mindset and ability to work closely with both tradespeople and clients. Curiosity and willingness to learn how our company operates through hands-on experience. Compensation and Benefits Heritage Restoration, Inc. offers competitive pay commensurate with experience, health and dental insurance, paid vacation and holidays, a retirement plan with company match, and opportunities for professional development in historic preservation and leadership. • $38–$42 per hour plus annual bonuses, commensurate with experience. Heritage Restoration, Inc. provides comprehensive health coverage and a comprehensive benefits package, including paid vacation, holidays, and retirement matching.
