Our client is seeking an entry-level Financial Analyst I to support a utility-focused finance organization. This role is ideal for a candidate with strong analytical skills who is comfortable working with large datasets and advanced Excel functions, and who is eager to grow within a collaborative finance environment. This position supports business planning, regulatory activities, and financial analysis efforts by working closely with internal finance, accounting, and operational teams. The analyst will help extract, analyze, and interpret financial data to support informed business decisions. Job Summary The Financial Analyst I will support a utility line of business through the business planning and financial reporting process. Responsibilities include assisting with annual cost planning, supporting month-end close activities, performing variance analysis, and preparing ad-hoc reports and analyses. The role works closely with finance, accounting, and internal business partners to improve financial visibility and results. Key Responsibilities • Support regulatory filings by assisting with schedules and responses to discovery requests • Extract data from SAP, run reports, perform downloads, and analyze large datasets using Excel • Perform variance analysis and ad-hoc financial reporting • Assist with annual cost planning related to O&M and capital expenditures • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, including journal entry support • Collaborate with accounting and finance teams to analyze results and identify efficiency or cost-saving opportunities • Support improvements to the SAP CO module and assist with implementation of new billing methodologies • Prepare reports and analyses requested by internal stakeholders • Interact with various departments to obtain data explanations and clarify financial results Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or a related field preferred • 0–2 years of relevant experience (entry-level candidates encouraged to apply) • Strong Excel skills including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs • Strong analytical skills with comfort working with large and complex datasets • Strong planning, organization, and problem-solving skills • Willingness to learn SAP (experience with SAP ECC is a plus but not required) • Accounting background not required, but role will work closely with accounting teams • Knowledge of capital spending or cost analysis is a plus but not required • Industry experience is helpful but not required Benefits: • Health Insurance • Sick time • 401k Pay Range: $34.00 - $39.00 per hour (Depending on experience and qualifications) By applying for this job, you agree to receive calls, AI-generated calls, text messages, or emails from HEPCO, Inc and its affiliates, and contracted partners.
