This a Full Remote job, the offer is available from: United States, California (USA) SUMMARY The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Sexually Transmitted Diseases Control Branch (STDCB) is seeking a temporary project coordinator to lead gonorrhea programmatic efforts and support the: Combating Antimicrobial Resistant Gonorrhea and Other Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) (CARGOS) project. This will intersect across a broad spectrum of programs including epidemiology/surveillance, disease intervention (including case investigation and partner services), clinical, policy, and local capacity building. Specifically, the Project Coordinator will: 1) collaborate with and be a liaison to STD program partners (including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, project stakeholders, and local health jurisdictions (LHJ)); 2) provide administrative and project/program management support including management of budgets and purchasing, and contributions to progress reports and grant-writing; 3) manage project/program protocols; 4) manage excel spreadsheets and create graphs to summarize data; and 5) provide technical assistance and local capacity building on antimicrobial resistant gonorrhea (ARGC) rapid detection and response in California. This position is limited term through May 15, 2026, with the possibility of extension depending on funding availability. Applicants must submit a cover letter and resume to be considered. The salary range: $70,000 - $90,000 per year based on experience/qualifications. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS • Manage CARGOS grant activities and ensure reporting requirements are met • Provide programmatic and administrative support including producing progress reports and writing grants, as needed • Regularly communicate with the CARGOS team leads to ensure timely reporting of ARGC grant activities • Manage annual and carryforward project budgets; regularly communicate with collaborators to ensure adequate supplies and resources are available in a timely manner; work with vendors to place supply orders • Coordinate and facilitate ARGC-related meetings and activities, included those funded by federal grants. • Coordinate discussions to facilitate data system interoperability across CDPH surveillance systems to optimize real-time state and local data exchange efforts • Promote and develop systems for laboratories, health care providers, and local health departments to report gonorrhea treatment failures and access antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) • Apply strong data management skills by maintaining existing data and making improvements as needed. Use database management software (e.g. Excel, Microsoft Access) to conduct quality assurance of ARGC and disseminated gonococcal infection (DGI) data; develop publications, presentations, and reports, including creating graphs and other visualizations, using project data • Develop and/or update a statewide STI/ARGC outbreak response plan, including developing guidance for local health jurisdictions. Create ARGC and DGI educational materials, trainings, and guidance documents for healthcare providers, local health departments, and laboratories. • Coordinate with CDPH Microbial Diseases Laboratory Program to validate and maintain ARGC testing • Contributes to branch-wide strategic planning efforts related to gonorrhea prevention and response. Supports the prevention and control of other sexually transmitted infections (e.g., DGI) and mpox, as needed, as part of a syndemic approach • Manage special projects requested by supervisor JOB QUALIFICATIONS Education/Experience • Two or more years’ experience coordinating public health projects or research studies, required. • One year of working in the public health field OR Master of Public Health or Master of Science in Epidemiology, public health, infectious diseases, or related field, preferred. • Minimum of one year with grant experience, preferred. • Minimum of one year experience managing budgets, preferred. • Basic content knowledge of STI epidemiology and prevention and control strategies, preferred. • At least one year of experience working with or for populations disproportionately at risk for STIs (e.g., communities of color, men who have sex with men, transgender individuals, people experiencing homelessness, people who use drugs), preferred. Lived experience may substitute for working experience in this area.
