ThePioneerWoman.com is looking for a freelance temporary food editor to join our food team. The senior food editor will work directly with the site’s test kitchen director to steer recipe content for this fast-growing digital brand, with an eye for SEO and food trends. She or he will also help edit recipes and food explainers with precision and accuracy. What you’ll do: • Research digital food trends relevant to TPW audience and pitch recipe ideas and food packages • Write optimized SEO recipe intros, including recipe keywords and hyperlinks, and compelling heds and deks • Edit recipes and SEO intros written by freelancers and other staff • Enter recipes into TPW content management system with an eye for accuracy and detail • Maintain and update project management documents and prepare test kitchen reports for digital team leaders • Monitor recipe comments on ThePioneerWoman.com Who you are: • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in English, creative writing, communications or business • 5 to 7 years’ experience in food media with a published portfolio of food writing (some digital experience preferred) • Experience with recipe editing • Experience using content management systems and managing spreadsheets • Familiarity with recipe keyword research and search-engine optimization • Demonstrated interest in digital food content and social media • Strong writing skills (SEO intros, recipe headnotes and food explainers) • Strong project management skills The base salary for this role is $48/hr. The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as: transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands.
