Job Description The Director of Infrastructure Services is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership of the District's networking, server, wireless, and storage environments. This role ensures the security, scalability, and reliability of the District's technology foundation supporting all clinical, administrative, and business functions. Reporting directly to the Chief Information Technology Officer (CITO), the Director leads a team of Systems Engineers and Network Engineers responsible for infrastructure architecture, operations, and modernization. The position plays a key role in advancing the District's digital transformation through improved resiliency, security, and performance of critical systems. Essential Functions: Infrastructure Operations & Optimization • Direct daily operations for Cisco enterprise networking, Fortinet SD WAN/firewalls, Pure Storage, and enterprise wireless infrastructure. • Oversee the management of servers, virtualization (VMware), and data center environments to ensure uptime, reliability, and optimal performance. • Monitor and maintain all infrastructure systems, ensuring proactive issue resolution and minimal service interruptions. • Manage patching, backup, and disaster recovery strategies across network and compute environments. • Maintain comprehensive documentation of network diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures. Strategic Leadership & Modernization • Develop and execute the infrastructure roadmap aligned with organizational strategy and the District's digital modernization initiatives. • Lead modernization projects including wireless redesign, network upgrades, and storage optimization. • Evaluate emerging technologies and make recommendations for innovation, efficiency, and cost optimization. • Partner with leadership to strengthen network security, business continuity, and system resiliency. Team Leadership • Manage and mentor a multidisciplinary team of Systems and Network Engineers, providing clear direction, technical guidance, and performance feedback. • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. • Establish measurable goals, service delivery metrics, and performance standards for the infrastructure team. • Promote cross-functional alignment between infrastructure, security, applications, and operations teams. Governance, Security & Compliance • Partner with the IT Security team to ensure infrastructure compliance with HIPAA, PCI, and cybersecurity standards. • Establish and enforce network and server configuration standards, change management protocols, and access controls. • Participate in IT governance forums including the Architecture Review Board and IT Steering Committee. • Oversee testing and execution of disaster recovery and business continuity plans. Vendor & Budget Management • Manage vendor contracts and service-level agreements with Cisco, Fortinet, Pure Storage, and other key partners. • Oversee procurement, renewals, and lifecycle management for all infrastructure assets. • Ensure expenditures align with approved budgets and cost-optimization goals. • Lead RFP evaluations and vendor performance assessments to ensure value and compliance. Qualifications Education: • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field required. Master's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, or related field preferred. In lieu of a formal degree, 15 years of directly related experience in infrastructure or network management may be accepted. Experience: • Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience managing large-scale infrastructure operations. • Deep technical expertise with Cisco networking (Nexus, Catalyst), Fortinet SD - WAN/firewalls, Pure Storage SAN/NAS, and enterprise wireless systems. • Hands-on experience with VMware, Windows/Linux servers, and data center operations. • Proven success leading technical teams and delivering infrastructure modernization projects. Certification: • Cisco (CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent) preferred • Fortinet NSE 4-7 preferred • VMware VCP preferred • Pure Storage Certified Specialist preferred Licensure: • Valid Florida Driver's License required. This unique healthcare system covers the entire county and provides a wide range of services such as nine community health centers (Federally Qualified Health Centers) which serve everyone regardless of ability to pay; school health teams in 172 public schools; a lifesaving Trauma Hawk aeromedical helicopter program; a rural, public teaching hospital, Lakeside Medical Center; an award-winning skilled nursing center; a ground ambulance program for Health Care District patients needing a higher level of care and the county's Trauma Agency, which ensures quality outcomes within the county's trauma system and leads initiatives to prevent traumatic injury.
