Position Summary: The Material Handler II- Mole System Operator is an advanced role responsible for the precise execution of high-density inventory management using semi-automated Mole/Shuttle Pallet Racking systems. Unlike entry-level roles, this position requires expert-level proficiency in operating forklifts to interface with shuttle units in deep-lane storage channels. This role ensures maximum storage density, strict adherence to FIFO/LIFO protocols, and the safe handling of the Mole technology. The operator serves as a technical lead for material handling, ensuring inventory accuracy within the racking structure and maintaining the operational integrity of the shuttle units. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: · Operates forklifts with high precision to insert and retrieve the Mole/Shuttle unit into specific racking channels without damaging rails or equipment. · Controls the Mole unit via remote/radio frequency to execute commands (loading, unloading, compacting, and counting pallets) within deep storage lanes. · Receives, distributes, and stores products in high-density designated locations as directed. · Monitors the battery levels and maintenance status of Mole units; performs battery swaps and basic troubleshooting of shuttle operational errors. · Prepares and maintains records of materials received and shipped, ensuring alignment between WMS data and physical Mole system counts. · Reviews shipments for quality and accuracy; reviews accompanying documents for accuracy. · Confirms shipping details or special instructions; expedite shipments that affect the schedule. · Transport and load materials, supplies, and finished goods (manually and/or using hand trucks, forklifts, and Mole shuttles). · Collects and properly disposes of scrap bracing, cardboard, and strapping; maintains a safe and clean work environment. · Proactively works to assist others in achieving the organization’s objectives and provides mentorship to Material Handler I staff regarding safety procedures. · Responsible for putting the product away while checking for quality and ensuring pallet integrity (crucial for Mole system travel). · Accurately load and unload trucks in the warehouse for proper distribution. · Fulfill and pack customer orders using RF scanner. · Retrieves products from overstock locations and restocks departments picking locations. Required Qualifications: · Expert proficiency in operating Mole/Shuttle Pallet Racking Systems (Auto-Shuttle, Pallet Runner, etc.) is required. · Ability to drive different types of forklifts with high proficiency (Reach Truck, Stand-up, Sit-down). · Demonstrated ability to align forks and pallets with high-precision rail systems at varying heights. · Excellent verbal communication skills. · Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. · Good math and written communication skills. · Efficient time management skills. · Ability to thrive in a team environment. · High school diploma or equivalent required. · At least 4-5 years of warehousing/logistics experience required. · Minimum 3 years of specialized Forklift experience required. · Experience working with scanning systems - WMS, ERP, etc. Physical Demands: · Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling materials weighing up to 55 lbs. · Standing, walking, bending, and reaching for extended periods. · High level of manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for operating remote controls and heavy equipment simultaneously. · Occasional climbing on ladders or stairs to access storage areas. · Exposure to varying temperature conditions, depending on the facility. · Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time. · Must wear proper safety gear such as closed toe shoes. · Frequent neck movement/looking upward to view high-level racking channels. Work Environment: · Warehouse or manufacturing environment with moderate noise levels. · Exposure to moving machinery, forklifts, semi-automated shuttles, and other material-handling equipment. · May work in environments with varying temperatures, dust, or debris. · Emphasis on safety and adherence to workplace regulations, specifically regarding high-density racking zones. Travel Requirements: · No regular travel is required for this position. Equipment Used: · Forklifts (High Reach and Counterbalance), pallet jacks, and hand trucks. · Pallet Mole/Shuttle units and corresponding Remote Control/Radio Transmitters. · Barcode scanners and inventory management systems. · Computers or tablets for inventory tracking and data entry. · Personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots. Supervisory Responsibilities: · This position does not include supervisory responsibilities, though may act as a technical lead.
