Growth Lead @ Hatchet Hatchet is a code-first orchestration engine used by companies to run AI workloads at scale. Modern LLM-native workloads break traditional infrastructure. Long-running LLM calls timeout your APIs, massive contexts crash your workers, parallel jobs flood your queues. Hatchet handles the complexity so developers can focus on features: ⚡️ real-time AI agents ⏰ long-running jobs that recover gracefully 🌊 massive parallel workloads that scale We're 100% open source, processing billions of tasks for scale-ups and enterprises, backed by Y Combinator, and growing fast. So far, our growth has been organic through a few Hacker News posts and word-of-mouth, but we're ready to scale up and show the world what's possible with modern low-latency async job processing, especially in AI systems. That's where you come in. Why this role matters We're at an inflection point. The AI explosion is creating massive demand for orchestration that can handle the new problems introduced by LLMs without the infrastructure headaches. We're fortunate to work with hundreds of scaling AI companies and some of the top research labs with a front row view to new problems and patterns to solve them. As our Growth Lead, you'll own our entire go-to-market motion. You'll build our growth strategy from scratch, establish our presence in the developer community, and create scalable systems that turn organic momentum into predictable revenue growth. You'll be our voice at conferences, the architect of our content strategy, the designer of our growth experiments, and the leader who decides where we invest our resources. This isn't a role where you execute someone else's plan—you'll set the vision, build the playbook, and have complete ownership over growth outcomes. You'll work directly with two 2x YC technical founders with full autonomy to drive the business forward. What you'll own Strategy & Vision Define and execute Hatchet's entire growth strategy across awareness, acquisition, and expansion Set quarterly growth goals and own the plan to achieve them Decide where we invest time and budget: events vs content vs partnerships vs paid channels Build the growth playbook and processes that will scale with the company Events & Community Building Own our conference strategy end-to-end—from budget allocation to event selection to ROI measurement Build and manage our speaker program, positioning our founders and team as thought leaders Create memorable booth experiences, demos, and activations that generate qualified pipeline Cultivate relationships with developer communities, AI research groups, and infrastructure meetups Growth Experimentation & Campaigns Design and run multi-channel experiments across content, events, partnerships, and digital channels Launch integrated campaigns that drive awareness, trials, and conversions Test messaging, positioning, and go-to-market strategies across different technical audiences Build automated systems for lead nurture, conference follow-up, and community engagement Content & Developer Marketing Develop our content strategy: what we create, where we publish, and how we measure impact Create (or coordinate creation of) case studies, technical blogs, tutorials, and developer resources Manage our presence across GitHub, social media, forums, and developer communities Establish Hatchet's voice and point of view in the AI infrastructure conversation Analytics & Business Impact Own the growth metrics dashboard and report on progress to founders and team Track everything: awareness metrics, event ROI, campaign performance, conversion rates, and pipeline impact Build attribution models to understand what's actually driving growth Use data to make resource allocation decisions and optimize across all channels Partner & Ecosystem Development Identify and execute partnership opportunities with complementary tools and platforms Build co-marketing campaigns and joint initiatives with partners in the AI ecosystem Represent Hatchet in partner conversations and community collaborations You might be a fit if You think like a founder. You're comfortable with ambiguity, you make decisions with incomplete information, and you take full ownership of outcomes You understand developers deeply. You know how technical audiences discover tools, evaluate solutions, and make adoption decisions You're a builder and a doer. You can both set strategy and execute hands-on—writing content, managing booth setups, analyzing data You're creative with limited resources. You know how to make an impact without massive budgets through clever positioning and authentic engagement You're analytical and data-driven. You instrument everything, form hypotheses, and let results guide your decisions You move fast. You'd rather launch 10 experiments and learn quickly than perfect one campaign for months Requirements 5+ years of growth marketing, developer marketing, or GTM experience with increasing ownership Proven track record of driving measurable growth, ideally in a startup or high-growth environment Hands-on experience with events, content marketing, and multi-channel campaigns Deep understanding of developer tools and technical products—how they're adopted and how they scale Strong analytical skills with experience using data to make strategic decisions Self-starter mentality—you've built programs from scratch and owned outcomes Bonus points for Experience as the first or early growth hire at a developer tools company Background in AI/ML infrastructure, distributed systems, or dev tools Track record building and scaling conference programs or developer advocacy initiatives Active presence in developer communities or experience creating technical content Experience with PLG motions and product-led growth strategies Previous startup experience or entrepreneurial background What we offer $130k-$190k base compensation + significant equity (0.3-1.0%) in a fast-growing, YC-backed startup Full benefits package including premium healthcare and unlimited PTO Generous events and marketing budget with autonomy over allocation decisions Conference travel budget—you'll be attending and speaking at industry events regularly Remote-friendly with optional NYC office access, but expect regular travel for events and community building Direct impact and ownership. You'll shape the trajectory of the company and build the growth function from the ground up Face time with customers. Share in support rotation to stay close to users and inform your strategy Who you'll work with We're a small team of 4: Alexander (previously founded Porter YC S20, multi-cloud infrastructure) and Gabe (previously founded ClearMix YC S20, distributed remote video production), plus 2 founding engineers. We're obsessive about building the developer experience we've always wanted and believe that authentic community building and technical storytelling are key to scaling our impact. We move fast and use what we ship. Everyone in the company shares in support, where we're constantly improving the product based on feedback and relationships with our customers. If you're excited about owning growth at a critical inflection point and building the playbook for the next generation of AI orchestration, we'd love to hear from you.
