Senior Landscape Architect – Technical Oversight Hart Howerton – San Francisco We are looking for an ambitious, talented, and self-motivated individual to join the Hart Howerton team. This position is currently available in our San Francisco or New York office. Position Responsibilitie s:Lead and contribute senior expertise to landscape architecture projects for a wide variety of clients as part of interdisciplinary teams of architecture, landscape architecture, and planning at Hart Howerton. Maintain the Hart Howerton approach of “designing complete environments,” while responding to market, environmental, and client objectives. Reinforce through design and project leadership Hart Howerton’s established reputation as “big thinkers who can create a vision for the whole” and provide technical expertise, oversight and review for a range of projects in the execution of designs at an equally high leve l. Experience Requir ed:12 years minimum experience required, 15+ preferred with a landscape architectural firm or division within a firm offering a range of design services that Hart Howerton respects, with at least 2 years in a leadership/management role. Experienced and knowledgeable in types of work HH pursues; Experience with all stages of work, from concept through construction documents and construction administration; Ability to maintain an appropriate average billable percenta g e. Educational Requiremen ts:Bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture; MLA preferred. More than one degree/background such as architecture (preferred, not required) and/or interdisciplinary exposure/background. License to practice Landscape Architecture in the US. Design/Technical/Documentation Leaders • hip Strong creative designer: ability to think conceptually, focusing on the technical solutions that make concepts builda • ble.Proactively consider technical issues in early design stages, develop and mentor the technical knowledge and skills of juniors, and perform technical and QA/QC reviews of detailed design sets prior to is • sue.Proven ability to make presentations and facilitate discussi • ons.Produce successful, profitable projects, and lead teams required to execute exemplary projects, includ • ing: Oversee relationships with project consultants for assigned projects in the design p • hase.Assist in preparing fee and workload projections for assigned proj • ects.Document projects and research for reference f • iles.Supervise the production and/or produce documents that convey and interpret design in • tent.Provide quality control on all proj • ects.Conduct project technical and design reviews when appropr • iate.Proficiency in all the basic technical skills of landscape architecture including grading, stormwater management strategies, site planning, planting plans, construction documentation, irrigation coordination, graphics, computer skill, etc. Client Rel • ationsThink like your clients: focus on their goals and objec • tives.Evidence of strong working relationships with clients and team members, including consultants and contra • ctors.Establish client confidence early in the project through careful listening, interactive dialogue, demonstration of expertise, and experience.
