About the Role: The Senior Associate, Government Relations plays a critical role in shaping and advancing the organization's public policy objectives by engaging with government officials, agencies, and stakeholders across the United States. This position is responsible for monitoring legislative and regulatory developments, analyzing their potential impact, and developing strategic responses to influence policy outcomes favorably. The role requires building and maintaining strong relationships with policymakers, industry groups, and coalition partners to effectively advocate for the organization's interests. The Senior Associate will also collaborate closely with internal teams to align government relations strategies with broader organizational goals and communicate complex policy issues clearly to diverse audiences. Ultimately, this position ensures that the organization remains proactive and influential in the evolving political and regulatory landscape to support its mission and growth objectives. Minimum Qualifications: * Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Law, or a related field. * At least 3-5 years of experience in government relations, public affairs, or legislative advocacy. * Demonstrated knowledge of the U.S. legislative and regulatory processes at federal and state levels. * Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience preparing policy analyses and advocacy materials. * Proven ability to build and maintain professional relationships with government officials and stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications: * Advanced degree in Public Policy, Law, or a related discipline. * Experience working within or closely with government agencies or legislative bodies. * Familiarity with the specific industry or sector relevant to the organization’s mission. * Track record of successful advocacy campaigns or coalition-building efforts. * Proficiency with government tracking tools and databases. Responsibilities: * Monitor and analyze federal, state, and local legislative and regulatory activities relevant to the organization's priorities. * Develop and implement strategic government relations plans to advance policy goals and mitigate risks. * Engage directly with elected officials, government agencies, and external stakeholders to advocate for the organization's positions. * Prepare detailed policy briefs, reports, and presentations to inform internal leadership and external partners. * Coordinate with cross-functional teams including legal, communications, and program departments to ensure cohesive messaging and strategy. * Represent the organization at industry forums, public hearings, and coalition meetings to build influence and partnerships. * Track and report on government relations activities and outcomes to senior management. Skills: The Senior Associate will utilize strong analytical skills daily to interpret complex legislative and regulatory information and assess its impact on the organization. Effective communication skills are essential for drafting clear, persuasive policy briefs and engaging with diverse stakeholders, including government officials and internal teams.
