Position Summary: The HV/MV Senior Technician will serve as a technical and leadership resource within field service operations, overseeing HV/MV equipment up to 500kV. This role combines hands-on expertise with team guidance to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable maintenance of substations and field equipment. The Senior Technician will collaborate closely with technicians, engineers, and customers to drive process improvements, implement field service strategies, and maintain strong customer relationships while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Develop and implement field service strategies for HV/MV equipment and substations. • Identify opportunities for process improvement and optimization in field service operations. • Ensure the efficient deployment of resources to meet customer needs and service objectives. • Lead and manage a team of HV/MV Technicians. • Provide guidance, mentorship, and technical support to team members. • Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment. • Work closely with customers to identify and address their field service needs. • Build and maintain strong customer relationships, ensuring their satisfaction with our services. • Act as a key point of contact for customer inquiries and issue resolution. • Contribute to higher-level decision-making within the organization related to field service operations. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align field service strategies with overall business objectives. • Provide insights and recommendations based on your extensive field service experience. Education and/or Experience Requirements: • 6 -10 years of relevant experience in field service preferred, with a strong background in HV/MV equipment – 500kV and below. • Ability to inspire and motivate a team. • Strategic thinking and the ability to develop and execute field service strategies. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-centric approach. • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. • Technical proficiency in preventative & corrective maintenance on 500kV and below voltage equipment, including but not limited to switches, CTs & PTs, LTCs, breakers, transformers, capacitor banks, etc. • Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance standards. • Protections and controls experience (preferred). • NETA Certified (preferred). What Will Put You Ahead • HV/MV Substation field service experience. • NETA Certified • Experience with remote troubleshooting and diagnosing issues in the field. • Completion of Substation Maintenance training programs. • Experience with electrical testing of Substation equipment. Physical Requirements / Work Environment: Physical Requirements • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow, wind). • Capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lbs. regularly. • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb ladders or stairs for extended periods. • Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and around energized electrical equipment. • Manual dexterity to safely handle tools, instruments, and electrical testing equipment. • Ability to wear and work safely in personal protective equipment (PPE) including FR clothing, gloves, hard hats, safety glasses, and fall protection gear. • Must have the stamina to work extended hours, weekends, and travel as required by project demands. Work Environment • Field-based role with frequent travel to substations, solar, and energy storage sites nationwide. • Exposure to high-voltage electrical equipment, heavy machinery, and construction or operational environments (strict adherence to safety procedures required). • Work performed both outdoors (substations, field sites) and indoors (control rooms, equipment enclosures). • Collaborative environment working closely with technicians, engineers, and customers. • May involve irregular schedules and on-call availability to support urgent field service needs.
