SOFTWARE ENGINEER (ASP.NET) Position Description Hanson, an integrated marketing agency focused on technology-enabled solutions, is seeking a Software Engineer (ASP.NET) to join our development team. This role will help develop and deliver complex websites and digital experiences for a variety of clients, working alongside other developers and cross-functional project teams. The ideal candidate brings 3–5 years of professional ASP.NET development experience, strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, and an ability to collaborate effectively and take ownership of their work. We’re open to candidates with 2+ years of .NET development experience who can demonstrate strong technical skills and readiness to contribute in an agency environment. Most of our development work utilizes .NET Framework or .NET Core, and our engineers work across a variety of platforms and technologies based on client needs. Experience with content management systems—particularly .NET platforms such as Optimizely, Sitefinity or Umbraco—is extremely valuable, and engineers should be comfortable learning new technologies as projects require. Front-end development experience with React or other modern JavaScript frameworks is also a plus, but not required. Responsibilities & Expectations Develop, test and integrate high-quality features, functionality and APIs for ASP.NET website projects Work with Technical Leads and Project Managers to understand requirements and estimates, and contribute to technical planning Take ownership of required work, tracking progress and communicating proactively about status, questions, risks and blockers Collaborate effectively with other software engineers, front-end developers, designers and other team members Participate in code reviews, testing and troubleshooting to ensure work meets technical and project requirements Contribute to internal and client project meetings as appropriate, communicating technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences Work within established project scope, timelines and budgets, including accurate and timely tracking of billable project work Document technical solutions, process and systems as needed to support project continuity and shared team knowledge Learn and work with new technologies, platforms and development approaches as client and project needs evolve Appropriately use AI-enabled tools and workflows to improve efficiency, quality and problem-solving Contribute positively to the team by sharing knowledge, collaborating with others and helping identify opportunities to improve how we work Experience & Qualifications 3–5 years of professional software development experience, primarily working with ASP.NET and C#; candidates with less ASP.NET experience who demonstrate strong technical skills will also be considered. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent professional experience Strong working knowledge of ASP.NET development, including ASP.NET Core, MVC web applications and Web API development and design Experience with modern web-development concepts and practices, including asynchronous programming, caching, dependency injection, RESTful APIs and authentication/SSO technologies such as OpenID Connect, OAuth2 and SAML Experience working with content management systems or other web platforms; experience with .NET CMS platforms such as Optimizely, Sitefinity or Umbraco is a strong plus Experience with relational databases and SQL, with exposure to NoSQL solutions such as Cosmos DB or DynamoDB a plus Familiarity with cloud hosting and development environments such as Azure or AWS, including build automation and continuous integration/deployment practices Proficiency with common development tools and workflows, including Visual Studio, Git source control, API testing tools such as Postman or cURL, and work- and issue-tracking systems such as Jira or Bugherd Front-end development experience, including JavaScript and frameworks such as React or Vue, is a plus but not required What we offer Hybrid work environment, with a preference for candidates within commuting distance of Toledo, OH but are open to a remote position under the right circumstances Competitive salary Medical, dental and vision coverage Group life insurance Short-term and long-term disability insurance 401(k) + Employer Match Paid holidays, including paid time off between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day Paid birthday day off Flexible spending account (FSA) and Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) We are currently working in a hybrid work-from-home and in-office model, so you’ll be collaborating with Hanson teams in person and/or via Microsoft Teams, Slack and email.
