Extensive leadership in sales and project management with expertise in digital transformation and CRM systems, but no automotive OEM sales experience.
Job Overview The Sales Manager will be responsible for building high level relationships and to develop new business opportunities with global OEMs such as Big 3, European and Asian car makers. The Sales Manager oversees and effectively manages the commercial activities of all assigned accounts, creates long-term, trusting relationships with customers, and maintains and improves company profitability. Also acts as a key liaison between customer and company to effectively communicate customer’s needs within the organization. Duties and Responsibilities • Develop and implement a strategic business development and sales commercial strategy for existing and new business opportunities. • Conduct market research to support the development of commercial business plans. • Act as point of contact for commercial matters and develop high level strategic relationships with customer contacts in engineering, purchasing, and executive levels. • Oversee customer account and management of commercial issues including negotiating prices while maximizing company profit. • Maintain price tracking documents for each customer’s programs and part numbers. • Resolve commercial issues with assigned accounts. • Ensure timely responses to customer’s request for quotes. • Effectively communicate all customer requests and requirements throughout the company. • Maintain and improve company profitability with assigned customers. • Other duties as assigned. Qualifications and Experience • Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field. • 3+ years of experience in automotive manufacturing account management (Tier 1 or OEM) • OEM sales experience. FCA, GM, Ford, Volkswagen, Honda preferred. • Strong understanding of: - APQP & PPAP processes - IATF 16949 requirements - EDI releases and OEM scheduling systems - Cost breakdown analysis and piece-price negotiation • Experience working with automotive ERP systems. • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills. • Ability to travel to OEM customer plants as required. • Experience supporting launch programs at North American automotive assembly plants. • Background in metal stamping, plastics, electronics, powertrain, or final assembly components preferred. • Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma certification preferred. • Exposure to global sourcing and international OEM customers. • Strong commercial acumen. • Customer- First Minded. • Launch discipline and urgency. • Conflict resolution . • Data-driven decision making.
