(HES) is an educational service provider that services PK-12 public school academies in the Metro Detroit area. Our students come from diverse educational & ethnic backgrounds attending at: Star International Academy (PreK-12): Dearborn Heights/Canton Township Universal Academy (PreK-12) - Detroit Universal Learning Academy (PreK-12)- Westland Noor International Academy (Pre-K-6) - Sterling Heights Position: Hamadeh Educational Services is seeking a Reading Specialist to join our team! You will educate students in small groups using the Michigan Common Core Standards at the elementary level in a charter public school. The teacher will be responsible for the students' academic success, achievement, and strengthening reading skills. Academy Mission: The Academies mission is to provide their students with a quality education that focuses on a core curriculum and international cultures including the study of language. The academies provide an education of the whole child by integrating different diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds to their college-preparatory program serving families in the Greater Detroit area. Responsibilities: • Supports teachers and works collaboratively to implement a quality reading program • Evaluates the literacy program and makes recommendations and assists with implementation • Assesses the reading needs of students and communicate these to classroom teachers and parents • Assists with the selection and administration of appropriate test instruments to assess growth • Assists with coordination of school and community library services • Assists with continuity of reading program with special programs (i.e. ESL, Special Ed.) • Participates in conferences, workshops and other staff development related to literacy • Provides guidance and develops resources and activities that enhance the effectiveness of the learning experience • Performs other duties as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor, the Superintendent or designee Requirements: • Must possess a Bachelor's Degree in the study of Education • Must be a MI Certified Teacher with reading specialist endorsement (K- 12 BR) • Minimum three years teaching experience • Must be computer literate and proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Software • Ability to work well in culturally diverse setting. • Must have excellent Oral, Written, and Interpersonal Communication Skills • Experience with ESL/ELL a plus • Flexible, open-minded, self-driven team member • Must be authorized to work in the US Job Type: Full-time Hamadeh Educational Services is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer
