We are currently seeking a Senior Project Manager, Environmental Scientist or Geologist to work in a technical project manager support role as a regulatory specialist with highly skilled professionals on diverse project teams in a dynamic environment. This is a full-time, hybrid position associated with our Washington DC/Vienna, VA office. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES In this position, you will: Lead the execution of project work for clients across sectors through individual contribution and delegation to lower-level staff. Lead environmental compliance projects, with special emphasis on Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) permitting and compliance. Understand client needs and develop technical scopes of work and proposals in your specialty area, leveraging other experts across the company to achieve client goals. Recognize conditions that require modifications to accommodate client- or regulatory-specific requirements. Demonstrate and apply knowledge of codes, regulations, and professional standards of practice to assigned project work. Understand Federal and state environmental regulations and evaluate and interpret requirements as they apply to our clients. Coach, mentor, and support staff to facilitate knowledge transfer and ensure high-quality execution of project tasks, technical reports, and deliverables. Serve as a subject matter expert, giving internal and external technical presentations and attending external networking events. Play a significant leadership role in performing technical evaluations and developing compliance plans for regulatory aspects of projects. Lead and perform the development of support studies and permit applications. Plan and perform all work in accordance with company and client health and safety protocols. Demonstrate the company’s foundational safety behaviors. SKILLS/EXPERIENCE Minimum Skills and Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, geology, or related field. 15+ years of related experience. 5 years of Project Management experience. Expertise in preparing Environmental Reports and filings for projects regulated by the NRC. Knowledgeable with compiling and filing state and federal regulatory application and environmental reports, including National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Environmental Impact Statements, state licensing applications, etc. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including verbally communicating and presenting project information. Desire to master skills in your discipline to become visible in the industry. Working knowledge of regulatory frameworks pertinent to the work. Understanding of common industrial activities and the relationship with various environmental media (e.g., air, wastewater, hazardous and solid wastes, tanks) and regulations (CERCLA, RCRCA, TSCA, EPCRA). Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (including Teams) and other standard software; GIS or CAD experience a plus. Preferred Skills: Master’s degree in environmental science, geology, policy or related field. Professional registration or certification, as applicable. The salary range for this position in Vienna, VA is $160,000 - $185,000 annually. Actual compensation will be based upon a variety of factors such as education, related work experience, certificates, skills, and current market conditions.
