As a Financial Systems Analyst, you will bridge IT and the Finance and Accounting team, ensuring the effective configuration and optimization of financial systems. You will analyze financial processes, recommend improvements, and provide ongoing support and training to users.
A bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience is required, along with broad theoretical knowledge of information technology and data-related disciplines. Familiarity with data visualization concepts and strong decision-making skills are also essential.
As a Financial Systems Analyst, you will serve as a key individual contributor role bridging IT and the interests of Hagerty’s Finance and Accounting team. In this role you ensure the end-to-end data lifecycle for financial systems is effectively configured, maintained, and optimized to support the organization’s financial reporting, accounting processes, and overall financial analysis strategy. This role involves collaborating with Finance, Accounting, Treasury, IT, and other departments to ensure that financial data is accurate, accessible, and supports business decision-making. What you’ll do Identify, combine, and enrich data to design and develop measures and metrics for general ledger, financial reporting, and similar accounting and finance department needs. Actively contributes to the planning and execution of the accounting and finance data roadmap by creating development-ready requirements that include data source identification, data transformations, business rules, data validation rules, data reconciliation processes, data controls, and other requirements in collaboration with engineering, analytics, and business teams. Analyze financial processes and workflows, identify inefficiencies, and recommend system and process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency. Provide ongoing support and training to finance and accounting users to ensure they can effectively use the financial systems and tools for their roles. Participate in testing efforts for system upgrades, patches, and new implementations, ensuring that financial data flows correctly and aligns with business needs. Support that the financial data system complies with relevant regulatory, audit, and internal control requirements, such as SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act). Write SQL code to query, transform, combine, analyze, and visualize data and prepare it for production release following best practices including debugging, versioning, documentation, and peer review. You design data and analytic solutions to solve ambiguous and hypothetical business problems. You take reasonable measures to ensure accuracy, appropriateness, and completeness of data and method of analysis for the task, pursue problem identification and recommend solutions. You complete your assigned tasks with information provided by team members, and you regularly provide progress updates to your manager. You communicate with team members to gather, confirm and convey information and may communicate externally as necessary. Problems you face are day-to-day and typically recurring. You navigate most problems by following established procedures to find a resolution. When unfamiliar challenges arise, you seek guidance from peers and/or more senior team members. You may contribute to minor changes in systems and processes to solve problems. This might describe you Bachelor's or higher degree. Equivalent relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. You have broad theoretical knowledge of information technology, computer science, or other data-related discipline. You are familiar with concepts and types of data visualization. You are familiar with concepts of working with data and possess strong technical aptitude for learning code-based tools to query, combine, transform, visualize, and analyze data. You possess strong decision-making and critical-thinking skills. You are effective at oral and written communication. Other things to note This role can be worked from any U.S. remote location. Familiarity with public company requirements, including Sarbanes Oxley and key regulations, if applicable. For SOX compliant roles, responsible for designing, executing, and documenting internal controls where they have been identified as owners to prevent errors in financial reporting, processes, and business operations.
