Position Overview We are seeking a dedicated, experienced Executive Director to lead and grow a comprehensive outpatient program specializing in dual diagnosis (co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders). This position involves strategic leadership, multi-site oversight, program development, clinical and administrative supervision, and frequent travel to ensure consistent delivery of evidence-based care across all locations. Key ResponsibilitiesClinical & Program Leadership • Oversee the full continuum of outpatient services including Intensive Outpatient (IOP), standard outpatient (OP), and dual-diagnosis programming for individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. • Ensure the use of integrated, evidence-based treatment models addressing both mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and other psychiatric diagnoses. • Collaborate with clinical and medical staff—including therapists, addiction specialists, prescribers, and support personnel—to deliver holistic, patient-centered care. • Oversee quality-of-care standards including assessments, treatment planning, documentation, outcome tracking, relapse-prevention efforts, and discharge/after-care coordination. Operations & Administrative Oversight • Manage daily operations across multiple service locations, ensuring consistency in care delivery, workflow efficiency, and compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards. • Oversee financial performance, program budgets, staffing ratios, and operational resource allocation. • Support the development and expansion of new programs or service lines, including IOP and mental health tracks. • Partner with internal departments to improve operational systems, billing processes, clinical productivity benchmarks, and client engagement strategies. Staff Leadership & Development • Recruit, hire, and supervise clinical, medical, and administrative staff while promoting a collaborative and supportive work environment. • Conduct regular site visits (50–75% travel) to monitor program fidelity, support staff, and ensure high-quality service delivery across locations. • Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance management for department leads and supervisors. • Foster a trauma-informed, evidence-based, recovery-oriented culture. Community & Stakeholder Engagement • Strengthen relationships with referral partners, healthcare providers, payers, and community organizations. • Represent the organization at professional meetings, conferences, and community outreach initiatives. • Support admissions, outreach, and marketing strategies through collaborative leadership and onsite involvement. Minimum Qualifications • 5–7+ years of experience within behavioral health, preferably overseeing outpatient or dual-diagnosis programs. • Strong understanding of co-occurring disorders, integrated treatment models, crisis intervention, and behavioral-health best practices. • Proven experience in multi-site program oversight, staff management, and operational leadership. • Excellent communication, organizational, financial, and problem-solving skills. • Must be able to travel 50–75%, including routine site visits and periodic overnight travel. Preferred Qualifications • Experience launching or expanding outpatient programs, including IOP and mental health service lines. • Familiarity with regulatory, licensing, and accreditation requirements for behavioral-health facilities. • Strong background in community outreach, referral development, and relationship building. • Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary teams.
