Description GREATER LOWELL FAMILY YMCA - JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: STEAM Program Instructor Department: Youth & Family Reports to: Program Director Status: Part-Time (Non-Exempt) Revision Date: 1/7/2025 POSITION SUMMARY:Program instructors focus on supporting youth development by instructing youth participants in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) programming. The instructor will develop and implement curriculum while ensuring a quality experience for participants. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of participants in the program by providing close supervision of all activities. • Visual Arts - introduces the fundamental concepts of different art mediums at the beginning and intermediate level. • Music - introduces the fundamental concepts of music and instruments at the beginning and intermediate level. • Clubs/STEM - Promote creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills while educating students on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) concepts and facilitating club content. • Evaluate, set up and break down of equipment and supplies. • Evaluate programs and implement new opportunities. • Adhere to YMCA policies, objectives, and rules. • Actively participate in all designated trainings and meetings. QUALIFICATIONS: • Minimum 18 years of age. High School Diploma preferred. • One year experience working with music, arts, STEM or similar field. • Strong communication skills. • CPR/AED certification to be obtained with employment. Requirements • Must be eighteen (18) years or older. • High School Diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred. • Experience working with elementary and/or middle school students leading skill-based classes preferred. • Experience developing curriculum around specific topics focusing on skill mastery preferred.
