Great Western Trailer (GWT) is hiring a full-time Service Manager to lead our service department at our Dearborn, MI facility. This role is responsible for overseeing all service department, while supporting the Service and Sales teams to ensure exceptional customer service across all business lines. Service Manager Responsibilities Budget & Planning • Manage the annual service budget. • Track daily progress and evaluate monthly goals. • Partner with leadership to develop plans for departmental growth. Staff Management • Hire, train, and develop service personnel. • Collaborate with recruiting partners. • Lead weekly meetings to drive efficiency and alignment. Service Operations • Create and manage a priority-based service schedule. • Assign work based on technician strengths and workloads. • Review and validate work orders before billing. • Analyze performance data to improve operations. Technical Expertise • Direct trailer repair, maintenance, welding, and electrical service. • Partner with manufacturers for warranty support. • Maintain a robust safety structure in line with company standards. Customer Relations • Visit customers to assess service needs and ensure satisfaction. Shop & Equipment Management • Ensure availability and maintenance of shop tools and service equipment. • Manage service schedules and maintenance plans for company vehicles and equipment. Required Qualifications • High school diploma or GED. • Minimum 4 years of experience as a service manager. • Proven ability to grow a service department. • Strong leadership and communication skills. • Proficient in reading and creating reports, invoices, and office documents. • Comfortable using computer systems. • Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus. • Must be able to read and write in English. Physical Demands • Ability to climb around, on, and under trailers. • Frequent standing, walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, and crawling. • Regular sitting and frequent talking or hearing. • Use of hands and arms for handling tools and equipment. • Ability to lift and move up to 70 lbs. • Vision requirements include close, distance, and color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. • Operate equipment such as phones, computers, forklifts, yard goats, hand tools, welding equipment, and refrigerated trailers. Work Environment • Operates in a shop environment. • Routine use of standard office equipment. • Involves shipping and receiving responsibilities. • Forklift training and certification provided.
