Great American Media Services (GAMS), a leading B2B media company, is seeking an ambitious, forward-thinking Managing Editor to oversee its sports group of brands: Coach & Athletic Director, Training & Conditioning, Tactical Training & Conditioning. This is a full-time, remote position reporting to the Group Publisher. We’re looking for a journalist with strong fundamentals, a passion for digital and multimedia storytelling and the drive to lead a brand across platforms. Our managing editors are brand ambassadors — thought leaders who engage readers through compelling content in print, online and in person. What You’ll Do: Develop and manage industry-leading editorial calendars Oversee the day-to-day editorial process for magazines, websites and e-newsletters Write and create content across platforms (print, web, video, social, multimedia packages) Copy edit and proofread content, ensuring alignment with AP and GAMS house style Monitor and analyze content performance across platforms to improve audience engagement Build and maintain relationships with freelance contributors; manage freelancer budgets Solicit contributions from all sectors of the industry Develop and nurture relationships with readers, industry organizations, advertisers and marketing partners Facilitate webinars, events and other audience engagement opportunities Represent the brands at industry events and trade shows Conduct industry surveys to understand key issues and identify opportunities Collaborate closely with the broader GAMS editorial, sales, marketing and design teams Proactively generate new ideas to grow brand reach and audience impact What We’re Looking For: Strong journalism foundation (reporting, writing, editing, proofreading) Passion for and knowledge in digital and multimedia journalism (video, social, online engagement) Ability to generate fresh, innovative story ideas and tell them in multiple formats Experience managing editorial calendars and content workflows Familiarity with content analytics and audience engagement strategies Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines A collaborative, team-first mindset with strong communication skills Background in B2B publishing or team sports leadership is a plus Benefits: Health, dental and vision insurance available Flexible spending account 401k with company match Paid time off and paid holidays Volunteer time off This is a remote position with occasional travel to industry events.
