Location: Faxon Academy, Southfield, MI Position Type: Full-Time, Hourly Pay Rate: $25–$30 per hour (based on experience and qualifications) Job Description Faxon Academy is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to support students with disabilities in grades K–8. This role combines direct instructional responsibilities with program coordination to ensure high-quality special education services and compliance with all applicable regulations. The ideal candidate is student-centered, collaborative, and knowledgeable about special education best practices. Key Responsibilities * Provide specialized instruction and support services to students with disabilities in grades K–8 * Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) * Coordinate special education services and programs across grade levels * Ensure compliance with state and federal special education laws and regulations * Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, service providers, and families * Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed * Maintain accurate and timely documentation and reports Qualifications * Minimum of 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university * Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field preferred * Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate (Special Education endorsement preferred) * Knowledge of special education laws, IEP development, and compliance requirements * Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills * Experience working with K–8 students preferred
