Role Overview: As a Network Engineer (Edge Operations) Level II, you will play a vital role in ensuring the optimal availability and performance of network systems supporting the NIH/CIT proposal. This hybrid role based in Bethesda, MD, involves managing edge network operations to maintain high-quality connectivity and security. What You'll Do: - You will monitor and maintain network infrastructure to ensure maximum uptime and reliability. - You will troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues in a timely manner. - You will configure and manage edge network devices including routers, switches, and firewalls. - You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement network upgrades and improvements. - You will ensure compliance with security policies and best practices across all network operations. - You will document network configurations, changes, and procedures accurately. - You will support incident response and disaster recovery efforts related to network systems. - You will participate in capacity planning and performance tuning to optimize network resources. What You Bring: - You have at least 3 years of experience in network engineering or a related field. - You possess strong knowledge of network protocols such as TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, and MPLS. - You are proficient with configuring and managing Cisco and Juniper network devices. - You have experience with network monitoring tools and troubleshooting methodologies. - You hold relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent. - You demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and in a team. Bonus Points If You Have: - Experience working in a government or federal agency environment. - Knowledge of cloud networking and hybrid network architectures. - Familiarity with network automation and scripting (e.g., Python, Ansible). - Security certifications such as CISSP or Security+.
