Role Overview: As a Network Engineer (Edge Operations) Level II, you will play a vital role in ensuring the optimal availability and performance of network systems supporting NIH/CIT operations. This position requires a proactive approach to network management and troubleshooting in a hybrid work environment based in Bethesda, MD. What You'll Do: - You will monitor and maintain network infrastructure to ensure high availability and performance. - You will troubleshoot and resolve network issues promptly to minimize downtime. - You will configure and manage edge network devices including routers, switches, and firewalls. - You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement network upgrades and improvements. - You will document network configurations, changes, and procedures accurately. - You will support network security initiatives by applying best practices and compliance standards. - You will participate in on-call rotations to provide 24/7 network support. - You will assist in developing and testing disaster recovery plans for network systems. What You Bring: - You have at least 3 years of experience in network engineering or a related field. - You possess strong knowledge of network protocols such as TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, and MPLS. - You are proficient in configuring and managing Cisco and Juniper network devices. - You have experience with network monitoring tools and troubleshooting techniques. - You hold relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent. - You demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and in a team. Bonus Points If You Have: - Experience working in a government or federal agency environment. - Knowledge of cloud networking and hybrid cloud environments. - Familiarity with network automation and scripting (e.g., Python, Ansible). - Security certifications such as CISSP or Security+.
