Role Overview: As a Journeyman Computer Systems Engineer/Architect, you will play a pivotal role in designing and developing advanced computer systems that support the operational needs of the U.S. Coast Guard. This hybrid remote position based in Honolulu, HI or Juniper, AK, offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects that ensure mission success. What You'll Do: - You will design, develop, and implement computer systems architectures tailored to Coast Guard requirements. - You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate hardware and software solutions. - You will analyze system performance and recommend improvements to optimize efficiency. - You will develop technical documentation and system specifications. - You will support system testing, validation, and troubleshooting activities. - You will ensure compliance with federal security standards and protocols. - You will participate in project planning and provide technical expertise to stakeholders. - You will stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices. What You Bring: - You have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. - You have 3+ years of experience in computer systems engineering or architecture. - You possess strong knowledge of system design, integration, and testing methodologies. - You have experience with federal IT security standards such as FISMA and NIST. - You demonstrate excellent problem-solving and communication skills. - You are able to work effectively in a hybrid remote environment. Bonus Points If You Have: - Experience working with U.S. federal agencies, especially the U.S. Coast Guard. - Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or PMP. - Familiarity with cloud computing platforms and virtualization technologies. - Knowledge of network infrastructure and cybersecurity best practices.
