Manage freight operations, optimize workflows, oversee carrier vetting, and lead team scaling.
4+ years in freight brokerage, leadership experience, market knowledge, problem-solving skills.
We are seeking a high-energy, detail-oriented Freight Operations Manager to lead and scale the back-end execution to support and partner with two fast-growing freight agents. As these teams grow, we need a "player-coach" who can refine operational workflows, manage carrier procurement, and ensure that our customer service remains flawless while volume increases. Key Responsibilities1. Agent & Team Support • Workflow Architecture: Standardize the cradle-to-grave shipment process for both agent teams to ensure maximum efficiency. • Capacity Sourcing: Oversee carrier vetting and procurement, ensuring teams are hitting target margins and minimizing fraud. • Escalation Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for high-level operational issues, including claims, OS&D, and difficult carrier negotiations. 2. Performance & Margin Oversight • Margin Protection: Audit daily load entries to ensure "buy" rates are optimized against current market data. • KPI Tracking: Monitor and report on key metrics for both agents, including load counts, margin per load, and carrier bounce rates. • Carrier Vetting: Ensure all carriers used by the agent teams meet the parent brokerage’s safety and insurance requirements. 3. Training & Scaling • Onboarding: Train new operations coordinators or dispatchers as the agent teams add headcount. • Tech Optimization: Act as the "Super User" for our TMS, ensuring the teams are using all features to automate manual tasks. Qualifications • Experience: 4+ years in a fast-paced freight brokerage. Prior experience in an agency model or supporting multiple sales reps is preferred. • Market Knowledge: Deep understanding of multiple modes of freight, current freight market cycles, and a strong desire to keep learning. • Leadership: Proven ability to manage a small team or lead projects across different business units. • Problem-Solving: You stay calm when a load is stuck at a receiver at 4:45 PM on a Friday. Why Join This Team? • Direct Impact: You aren't just a cog in a giant machine; you are the operational engine for two high-growth businesses. • Growth Path: As these agents scale, your role has the potential to expand. • Culture: Obsessed with serving customers, continuous improvement, and finding better ways to do our jobs. Pay: $70,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year Work Location: Remote
