Summary of This Role Supports data center availability and reliability requirements, identifies and eliminates sources of risk to increase availability of critical IT systems. Identify interdependencies between facility and IT infrastructures and collaborate with facility management to mitigate gaps in system redundancy and ensure efficient power and Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC). Maintains an in-depth knowledge of data center environmental and infrastructure best practices. Creates and maintains appropriate infrastructure and connectivity documentation within applications such as MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Computer-aided Design (CAD) applications and Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) software such as iTRACS and Rackwise. What Part Will You Play? Designs and documents basic infrastructure connectivity plans, while assisting with complex plans, for multiple data centers using dark fiber, connectivity rooms, and mainframe and/or distributed technology servers to various client and/or company owned systems, while accounting for design aspects such as efficient cabling routes, power and/or HVAC availability/additional requirements. Assists with determining the appropriate equipment specifications based on infrastructure requirements and evaluates potential/existing equipment specifications meet the requirements and ensure continued system availability and reliability. Completes the installation of infrastructure equipment, such as racks, cabinets, networking equipment, and completes cabling runs to include terminating cabling to the various types of system components for basic designs while assisting more experienced team members with complex installations. Documents all infrastructure connections points and completes/maintains virtualization maps of data and power connections within DCIM software. Assists with the coordination of the maintenance and repair of infrastructure components with vendors and internal maintenance/facility teams to ensure maximum system availability. Participates in the Collaboration with the maintenance and facility teams and begins to provide recommendations regarding design requirements and proper utilization of power and HVAC to ensure the data centers are "green" operations. Maintains internal policies and/or procedures of proper infrastructure, end-to-end, connectivity. Reviews industry materials and periodicals to stay abreast of changes in infrastructure technology and best practices. Begins to identify potential impacts of industry changes and provides recommends to more experienced team members and/or management regarding a possible course of action to mitigate risk to existing infrastructure or future projects. Maintains infrastructure and connectivity data in DCIM software. What Are We Looking For in This Role? Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree Relevant Experience or Degree in: Major in Computer Science, Electric Engineer or Mechanical Engineering strongly preferred, other majors considered. Willing to accept additional experience in lieu of a degree. Typically Minimum 2 Years Relevant Exp Experience with Data Center Infrastructure. Preferred Qualifications REXX, C++, Cisco Network Certification, Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI), Certified Data Center Management Professional What Are Our Desired Skills and Capabilities?
