• Job Title: HIL Engineer • Location: Auburn Hills, MI • * Job Summary • We are seeking a highly skilled HIL Engineer to design, develop, and maintain Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test systems for embedded control units. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in HIL system development, hardware schematics interpretation/design, and hands-on expertise with dSPACE platforms. This role requires close collaboration with software, hardware, and systems engineering teams to ensure robust validation of control algorithms and embedded systems. • Key Responsibilities • Design, develop, and maintain Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test systems for ECU validation. • Configure and integrate HIL systems using dSPACE platforms such as dSPACE SCALEXIO and dSPACE MicroLabBox. • Develop plant models using MATLAB/Simulink for real-time simulation. • Analyze and interpret hardware schematics to support signal conditioning, I/O interfacing, and fault insertion strategies. • Collaborate with hardware engineers to review schematics and ensure test coverage alignment. • Perform system integration, debugging, and validation of embedded controllers. • Develop automated test scripts and regression test suites. • Troubleshoot HIL bench issues including communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet, etc.). • Support SIL/MIL to HIL transition activities. • Document test setups, validation procedures, and results. • Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field. • 3+ years of experience in HIL system development. • Hands-on experience with dSPACE tools (ControlDesk, ConfigurationDesk, AutomationDesk). • Strong understanding of hardware schematics, signal conditioning, and electronic circuits. • Experience with real-time simulation and model-based development (MATLAB/Simulink). • Knowledge of automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, FlexRay, Ethernet). Experience with debugging tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multimeters.
