We are seeking an Executive Communications Director to lead strategic storytelling and executive visibility across CoreAI and GitHub. This leader will help articulate how Microsoft and GitHub are advancing the next era of intelligent software — where AI agents, automation, and developer experience combine to help every builder move faster, ship smarter, and code securely. In this role, you will shape narratives that connect product vision, leadership priorities, and the developer ecosystem. You will serve as a trusted advisor and storyteller to senior executives, helping them communicate with clarity and purpose across audiences — from developers and open-source communities to enterprise decision-makers, partners, and press. This position sits at the intersection of AI platform communications and developer brand storytelling, supporting executives across Microsoft CoreAI and GitHub to amplify strategy, momentum, and innovation. Responsibilities: • Develop and lead executive communications strategy across CoreAI and GitHub to elevate leadership visibility, drive brand clarity, and reinforce our role as the home for AI-powered development. • Advise and support senior executives on external and internal communications, including speaking engagements, interviews, op-eds, internal town halls, and social media. • Craft compelling narratives and content (talking points, scripts, blogs, social posts, and briefing materials) that translate complex AI and developer concepts into accessible, impactful stories. • Lead cross-functional coordination across product, engineering, research, communications, marketing, and developer relations to ensure message alignment across audiences and channels. • Partner with global communications, PR, and brand marketing to execute integrated programs that connect executive visibility with major product launches, announcements, and events (e.g., GitHub Universe, Build, Ignite). • Leverage AI tools and insights to enhance storytelling, accelerate content creation, and measure the impact of communications programs. • Coach and mentor communications strategists supporting CoreAI and GitHub leaders, fostering excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning. • Manage social and influencer strategy for CoreAI and GitHub executives, ensuring authentic engagement, thought leadership, and alignment with platform priorities. • Measure, evaluate, and evolve communications programs to strengthen reach, engagement, and resonance across global audiences. Qualifications: Required Qualifications: • 10+ years experience in internal communications, executive communications, public relations, or related field • OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field AND 8+ years experience in internal communications, executive communications, public relations, or related field • OR Master's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field AND 6+ years experience in internal communications, executive communications, public relations, or related field • OR Doctorate in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field AND 4+ years experience in internal communications, executive communications, public relations, or related field • OR equivalent experience. • 3+ years experience in an in-house communications role. Preferred Qualifications: • 12+ years experience in internal communications, executive communications, public relations, or related field • OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field AND 10+ years experience in internal communications, executive communications, public relations, or related field • OR Master's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field AND 8+ years experience in internal communications, executive communications, public relations, or related field • OR Doctorate in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field AND 6+ years experience in internal communications, executive communications, public relations, or related field • OR equivalent experience. • 4+ years internal communications experience. • 4+ years software development or technology industries experience. • 4+ years experience in an in-house communications role. • 5+ years experience supporting senior executives. • 3+ years issue management communications experience Compensation Range: The base salary range for this job is USD $189,100.00 - USD $302,000.00 /Yr. These pay ranges are intended to cover roles based across the United States. An individual's base pay depends on various factors including geographical location and review of experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant. At GitHub certain roles are eligible for benefits and additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock. These rewards are allocated based on individual impact in role. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee's role.
