Program Manager, Highest Awards The Opportunity The Program Manager, Highest Awards supports the execution of programmatic strategic plans for girl leadership experiences including the Highest Awards based on the Girl Scout Life Skills program portfolio. Reporting to the VP, Girl Leadership Experience, the Program Manager, Highest Awards will work collaboratively across the entire organization and will support the planning, organization, and implementation of Highest Awards, Leadership events and trainings, and special funded initiatives based on defined objectives and KPIs. GSGNY Background The Girl Scouts of Greater New York (GSGNY) is a leading youth development organization serving 16,000 girls ages 5–18 each year. Our mission is to ensure that every girl across New York City can develop the courage, confidence, and character needed to thrive. GSGNY delivers empowering programs in nearly every NYC zip code, from traditional troop experiences to STEM and robotics, leadership development, and meaningful community service. We also support unhoused girls living in shelters across the city and send 5,000 girls each summer to our beautiful camp in upstate New York. Through our iconic Cookie Program, Girl Scouts earn money for troop activities while building critical financial literacy and entrepreneurial skills. Recently upgraded and enhanced facilities at our 425-acre Camp Kaufmann in Dutchess County, including the construction of a multiple purpose, award winning building, Girl HQ. Responsibilities Reporting to the VP, Girl Leadership Experience, the Program Manager, Highest Awards will: * Oversee all aspects of the Highest Awards process, including all the trainings, virtual or in-person from beginning to end. This includes promotion, creation of run of shows, supplies, attendance, flyers, and coordination of all details for successful delivery. * Oversee the Gold and Silver Award celebrations, including planning and logistics through successful completion of the event. * Oversee and manage efficiently the Gold Award pipeline on GoGold platform, and internal highest awards trackers for Bronze, Silver and Gold. * Lead communicator with our Highest Awards Volunteers, lead meetings, prepares training sessions and provides growth opportunities for our volunteers. * Manage implementation of leadership program KPIs, may include Badge days, Leadership Award Days and related special initiatives-ensuring high-quality program content, curriculum development, creating dynamic in-person and virtual events, building and expanding on existing resources, while meeting funding requirements and Girl Scout needs. * Support the programmatic strategic framework to drive intentional growth and a yearly planning process around key goals and objectives. * Ensure age-specific programming and pre-requisites to the Highest Awards Girl Scouts programs are centered around the GS programmatic pillars, aligned with the national programmatic strategy, and provide opportunity for Girl Scouts to attain the desired Girl Scout leadership outcomes. * Support special funded initiatives, based on current goals, program outcomes, and the national program portfolio relevance. * Manage the scholarship process and Destinations program for GSGNY, includes promotion, reviews, and awards. * Deploys programmatic resources including program playbooks, badge programs, event models, and volunteer trainings. * Enthusiastically collaborate with Council staff and other members of GSGNY team to achieve the council’s collective goals. * Work collaboratively with other Council-wide teams to meet shared team goals. * Participate, encourage and strengthen volunteer communication while supporting membership strategies. * Attends Girl Scout events, program site visits and community events among others. Qualifications * Minimum 2 years of experience in developing and carrying out community-based programs, events and volunteer management, and/or working with youth. * Exceptional attention to detail; able to accomplish all aspects of the development function from basic administrative tasks to high-level strategy. * Expertise in planning programs with metrics and rubrics to assess outcomes. * Excellent project management skills, including the ability to establish and monitor priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. * Demonstration of initiative, flexibility, and resourcefulness in working effectively on multiple projects. * Outstanding written and presentation skills with the ability to speak clearly, write persuasively, and listen attentively. * Supervisory experience or strong desire to be a collaborative, intentional supervisor and mentor. * Experience with budgeting and financial management. * Ability to work independently, as well as in a team, with a track record of collaborating successfully with diverse staff and culturally diverse communities. * Ability to work evenings and weekends for program events and travel throughout the 5 boroughs. * Familiarity with New York City’s community-based organizations preferred, especially in the areas of youth development, environmental education, outdoor adventure, and/or girls empowerment. * Belief in and commitment to the principles of the Girl Scout movement.
