Full Description

Work Location: Remote, U.S. Based Reporting Hours: Aligned with U.S. and Central European (CET) business hours as required. Applications will accepted until Thursday, October 23rd. Summary:  At geocgi we pride ourselves on not losing our focus. We started out and remain GIS experts (or geeks. . . depending on your perspective). Since 2006, we’ve evolved into a world-class and world-wide service provider of multiple disciplines. We are a talented, hardworking group that share values and characteristics that drive client, professional, and personal success. Geocgi is seeking an AI Solutions Engineer to support the NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCIA) in developing an automated portfolio analysis and reporting system. This effort will apply modern artificial intelligence and large language model (LLM) techniques to analyze, classify, and visualize information from NATO’s complex portfolio of over 70 projects and 250 work packages. The project aims to transform manual, error-prone project reporting into a smart, query-driven environment that provides actionable insight across NATO Programs of Work. The AI Solutions Engineer will design, prototype, and deploy an AI-powered document intelligence solution with a user-friendly interface and chatbot functionality that enables users to “chat with documents,” explore project interrelationships, and generate dashboard-ready insights. This is a fully remote position with flexibility, which may require availability during Central European Time (CET) hours for scheduled virtual meetings and occasional travel for deliverable presentations.   Key Responsibilities: •    Design and implement an AI pipeline for automated extraction, classification, and summarization of project data from structured and unstructured documentation (e.g., Project Management Plans, Highlight Reports).  •    Develop a GUI-based prototype that allows users to upload documents, inspect extracted data, and visualize relationships across projects and work packages. •    Build a conversational chatbot interface enabling natural-language queries (“Which projects support NATO’s Digital Transformation Strategy?”). •    Implement data visualization and dashboard capabilities to summarize budgets, timelines, risks, and strategic alignment metrics. •    Integrate backend services and ensure future connectivity to SharePoint and API-based data sources. •    Provide documentation, progress reports, and final prototype delivery according to NATO project milestones. •    Collaborate with NCIA stakeholders to ensure model outputs are interpretable, traceable, and aligned with NATO’s portfolio management objectives. As an employee of geocgi, the AI Solutions Engineer will have access to a generous benefits package, in addition to a corporate culture and community of GIS geeks. Our benefits include but are not limited to: •    Competitive salaries, commensurate with experience and leading Federal Contractors in the geospatial industry. •    Opportunities for upward mobility in a dynamic fast paced environment within a small company. •    Merit-based spot and end of year bonuses. •    Safe Harbor 401(k) plan with immediate vesting. •    Flexible work hours and PTO. •    Complete Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage for individuals. •    Company paid training, certifications, and professional growth and development. The following are requirements of the AI Solutions Engineer: •    U.S. Citizen with an Active U.S. Passport. •    Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent experience). •    Maintain reporting and availability during Central European Time (CET) Business Hours •    8+ years in applied AI or machine learning engineering. •    3+ years deploying and managing Large Language Models (LLMs), preferably for document understanding or question-answering use cases. •    3+ years developing web-based GUIs for AI/ML applications. •    2+ years experience in intelligent document chunking, topic tagging, and semantic classification. •    2+ years developing interactive chatbot or conversational AI systems. •    Demonstrated ability to produce visual dashboards and data-driven insights from complex datasets. •    Familiarity with cloud architecture, network filtering, and access control best practices. •    Strong Python development skills, including experience with libraries such as LangChain, Hugging Face Transformers, Streamlit/Gradio, FastAPI, and visualization frameworks such as Plotly, Dash, or Power BI. •    Excellent communication skills; ability to document methodologies and present findings clearly. The following are desirable skills of the AI Solutions Engineer: •    Experience with document vectorization and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) frameworks. •    Familiarity with SharePoint APIs, NATO data policies, or secure environment integration. •    Prior experience in defense, government, or portfolio management analytics. •    Possession of a NATO Secret or national equivalent clearance. The annual base salary range for this position is anticipated to be $90,000 - $95,000 USD. The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Geocgi considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.
