Designing and implementing complex, distributed, mission-critical systems with a focus on high availability, performance, and modern architectural paradigms.
Extensive experience in software development, distributed systems, cloud platforms, modern programming languages, and data libraries, with a strong emphasis on system design, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration.
Lead Software Architect – Distributed Systems – Remote Rate: DOE GraphDb and OpenSearch, AWS, Data Engineering, Python, AI Basic Qualifications 1. 15+ years of professional software development experience 2. Proven experience in architecting and implementing complex, distributed systems 3. Demonstrated success delivering highly available, mission-critical services in production environments 4. Proficiency in at least one modern programming language 5. Hands-on experience with modern architectural paradigms such as event-driven systems and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) 6. Skilled at producing architectural artifacts, including system diagrams, technical documentation, and design decision records 7. Solid understanding of software design patterns and system design principles, with the ability to both apply best practices and critically assess them when needed 8. Proficiency with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Azure, with a preference for AWS experience 9. Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams Required Qualifications : 7+ years of experience with full-stack application development (GraphQL, Postgres Database) 1. 7+ years of experience with high-test coverage delivery using unit- and front-end-test frameworks 2. 5+ years of experience building cross-functional and broadly scoped platforms 3. Thorough knowledge of event-driven systems, and graph databases (Kinesis, Neo4J) 4. Experience with in-house LLM infrastructure and software / OpenAI tools and training others. 5. Experience with large-scale data libraries (Druid, Databricks, Snowflake) 6. Strong expertise in governance systems, experience with Datahub is highly desired Preferred Qualifications 1. Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field preferred 2. Demonstrated curiosity and enthusiasm for exploring new technologies through hands-on experimentation or proof-of-concept projects 3. Strong interest in tackling complex, fast-evolving technology or business challenges 4. Passion for automation, scalable systems, data-driven solutions, and creative technical innovation 5. Experience designing and building internet-scale platforms or systems with high availability and performance requirements 6. Contributions to open-source projects or a portfolio of personal work (e.g., GitHub) that reflects your technical interests and abilities
