Full Description

GDIT plays a leading role in managing and modernizing data warehouse infrastructure for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. We architect, implement, modernize, and provide operations support for a large data repository in the cloud. GDIT is seeking an experienced Cloud Solutions Engineer to support these efforts. This role will design and define system architecture for new or existing computer systems and coordinate system development to include design, modeling, security, integration and formal testing. Successful candidates will manage sophisticated systems and oversee the transition into production processes. This role will also create and maintain programmatic and technical documentation to ensure efficient planning and execution. In this role, a typical day will include: • Supports management of a large AWS environment. • Develops Cloud Formation templates for automation of infrastructure as code. • Works with security team to support scans and patching of systems/services. Works with DevSecOps team to support CI/CD pipelines. • Performs basic administration of PaaS, SaaS, and self-managed solution components (e.g., DataBricks, Snowflake). • Researches and implements new services and software as needed to support the programs. • Contributes to completion of specific engineering programs and projects. • Develops solutions to a variety of complex engineering problems of moderate scope and complexity. • Performs complex systems design, development, and integration from the start of a systems life cycle to the end. • Oversees infrastructure integration including installing, configuring, testing and maintaining operating systems, application software, and system management tools. • Performs complex systems modeling, simulation, and analysis. • Performs continual maintenance and provides complex solutions for security, backup and redundancy problems. • Prepares and maintains a range of documentation for processes and procedures related to engineering projects. • May provide guidance to less-experienced Systems Engineers. • Maintains current knowledge of rapidly changing technology. • May coach and review the work of less-experienced professionals. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience. • 3+ years of experience with cloud applications and services (preferably AWS), including development or administration of a large scale enterprise system. • Must be able to clearly and effectively communicate complex technical issues and recommend solutions to a general audience of technical and non-technical stakeholders. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: • AWS certified professional strongly preferred. • Prior experience working with the federal government as an employee or contractor preferred. LOCATION: Remote CLEARANCE: Ability to obtain a Public Trust: candidate must have lived in the United States at least three (3) out of the last five (5) years and pass a public trust background investigation.
