The Role We are seeking a Backend Software Engineer to join the Supply Product team. This team is responsible for the technology and systems that power the supply side of the Gametime marketplace. This is a mid-level individual contributor (IC2) position for engineers who are developing their technical depth, execute reliably on scoped projects, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. You’ll contribute to delivering backend features and infrastructure improvements while learning from senior engineers and growing toward greater autonomy. Key Responsibilities: Build and maintain Golang microservices that support inventory ingestion, ordering and fulfillment, and third-party integrations. Contribute to the design and development of backend features with guidance from senior team members. Write well-tested, maintainable, and observable code. Support and improve internal and external APIs that power the Gametime platform. Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Data teams to deliver technical solutions aligned with user and business goals. Participate in team rituals including code reviews, sprint planning, and technical discussions. Learn and apply best practices in backend development, CI/CD, and system reliability. Contribute to a culture of inclusion, technical curiosity, and continuous improvement. Bonus: Explore ways to integrate AI-powered tools into backend workflows and development practices. Key Competencies: Backend Development: Hands-on experience building backend systems using Golang or other backend languages (e.g., Python, Java, Ruby, etc). System Fundamentals: Understanding of distributed systems principles, REST APIs, and backend application architecture. API Integration: Ability to work with internal and third-party APIs reliably and securely. Cloud Infrastructure: Exposure to AWS, GCP, or other cloud platforms is a plus. Event-Driven Systems (Bonus): Experience working with messaging systems like Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar. Databases: Experience with relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL) and/or NoSQL technologies (e.g. MongoDB, DynamoDB). Team Collaboration: Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn through collaboration. AI-Enhanced Development (Bonus): Interest or experience using AI tools like GitHub Copilot, Cursor, ChatGPT, or similar to enhance engineering work. Minimum Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Individual pay within that range can vary for several reasons including skills/capabilities, experience, and available budget.
