Overview Gale helps American businesses get work authorization for their employees. We use modern tech and AI to streamline the entire immigration process. As our 1st software intern, you’ll primarily be building AI-powered internal tooling for lawyers. You’ll manage the full product development cycle for your work, from feature scoping to development and feedback iteration. All 3 co-founders are Waterloo alumni who have collectively done 23 internships. We’re invested in mentoring and making sure you get the most out of your time with us. Requirements We expect you to work effectively with the following languages and frameworks: TypeScript Postgres Fastify Effect React We need to see: Strong experience in web technologies, particularly TypeScript Strong experience shipping code to production Love for building products from 0 to 1 Bonus points: Experience shipping LLM-powered interfaces and products to production Sustained interest in functional programming (e.g. Haskell, Scala, Rust, etc.) This is probably not the role for you if: You’re not interested in the entire product development cycle, from scoping to design to building and iterating on feedback. You do not do well with outcome-based assessment. We have straightforward expectations for this role: ship a feature from zero to production. Logistics: 16 weeks, January to April (start and end dates are flexible) Remote out of Canada or the USA, we accept anyone with work authorization in either country.
