We are looking for a Technical Lead on the Great American Risk Solutions IT team within P&C IT Services. This role would be responsible for designing and developing one of Risk Solution’s strategic platforms as well as mentoring and coaching others to deliver quality, Incremental value add that aligns with both enterprise standards and business needs. Depending upon experience and qualifications, this role may be a Senior Application Engineer II, Application Engineering Specialist or Application Architect. Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities: Collaborates with other departments and stakeholders on requirements, design, standards, and architecture of applications and integrated solutions that enhance data flow and system interoperability. Develops comprehensive technical specifications based on conceptual design and stated business requirements. Responsible for performing, coordinating and leading the day-to-day development activities of employees, including planning for Sprints Proven experience leading the design, programming, building and deployment of software applications and systems that support various business and insurance processes. Drives the implementation of new features and functionalities based on business requirements, enhancing the overall user experience. Ensure seamless integration of new applications with existing systems, minimizing disruptions to business operations. Performs complex maintenance and problem resolution on software application Monitors and optimizes application performance, identifying and resolving any issues that may impact system efficiency. Conducts regular performance assessments and implements improvements to ensure applications run smoothly and efficiently. Provides technical support to end-users and team members, addressing and resolving application-related issues in a timely manner. Adheres to standards for software development with emphasis on test driven development and quality of software. Proactively identifies opportunities for process improvements and is responsible for implementing solutions that enhance overall system performance. Participate in code reviews and status meetings. Develop time estimates for project deliverables. Responsible for performance and coaching of staff and has a participatory role in decisions regarding talent selection, development, and performance management. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications 10+ years’ experience with software development of Java or .NET applications 10+ years of knowledge of object-oriented concepts 10+ years’ experience with RDMS such as Oracle or SQL Server and integrations of the database with Java or .NET applications 10+ years SQL experience A true passion for new technology Experience with cloud native development Experience with webservice/API development (REST) Experience with web-based data formats (XML, JSON) Experience with webservice testing tools (SoapUI, Postman) Experience writing unit and acceptance tests Experience mocking API's Experience with GitHub for version control Experience developing applications using microservices framework Experience demonstrating technical leadership Experience with configuration-based applications Agile Scrum development methodology experience Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills Ability to work effectively with associates at all levels within the organization Ability to present ideas and perspectives to leadership Demonstrated ability to establish priorities, organize and plan work to satisfy established timeframes Proven ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously Analytical skills, problem solving and attention to detail Experience mentoring other developers to grow skills Plus: Experience with Open Source Frameworks Plus: Experience with Continuous Integration and Build Mgmt: e.g. Hudson/Jenkins, Gradle/Maven, Ant, Concourse Plus: Experience with No-Code/Low-Code solutions Plus: Experience with MarkLogic, SnowFlake, data lakes, or other similar technologies Plus: Experience with Pivotal Cloud or Tanzu Plus: Experience with Dynatrace, Humio, or other monitoring tools Business Unit: Property & Casualty IT Services Benefits: Compensation varies by role, position level, and location. Individual pay is influenced by skills, education, training, certifications, experience, and the role's scope and complexity, along with business needs.
