Full Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Manager of Fabrication & Welding to oversee our client's fabrication and welding operations in the Southwest suburb of Chicago. This role is critical in ensuring that all projects are completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in welding and fabrication, along with excellent leadership skills to manage a team of welders and fabricators. Duties • Supervise daily operations of the fabrication and welding department, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and quality standards. • Oversee the execution of welding tasks including MIG, TIG, FCAW, and other welding processes. • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to guide fabrication processes. • Manage the use of various hand tools, power tools, and machinery such as press brake machines and plasma cutters. • Ensure proper maintenance of equipment including cranes, forklifts, and other machinery used in the fabrication process. • Conduct training sessions for staff on welding techniques, safety practices, and equipment operation. • Collaborate with engineering teams to develop efficient fabrication methods that meet project specifications. • Monitor inventory levels of materials such as sheet metal and ductwork to ensure timely project completion. • Implement ASME codes & standards in all fabrication processes to maintain compliance with industry regulations. Qualifications • Bachelors degree strongly preferred • Proven experience in a supervisory role within a manufacturing environment. • Strong knowledge of welding techniques including MIG, TIG, FCAW, and soldering. • Familiarity with mechanical knowledge related to rigging, pipe threading, machining, and assembly processes. • Proficiency in using measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers for quality assurance. • Ability to read blueprints and schematics effectively. • Experience with various fabrication processes including ductwork installation and metal forming. • Knowledge of safety regulations pertaining to welding operations. • Strong problem-solving skills along with basic math abilities for calculations related to fabrication tasks. • Excellent communication skills for effective team management.
