Job Summary We are seeking an experienced VMware / Network Systems Administrator to support enterprise infrastructure, virtualization, networking, server administration, and systems operations. This is a long-term hybrid contract role ideal for a hands-on IT professional with strong experience in VMware, vSphere, vCenter, vSAN, NSX, networking, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, backup/recovery, and server administration. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of VMware administration experience and 5 years of networking systems administration experience. This role requires someone who can design, implement, maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize complex IT environments while working both independently and collaboratively with technical teams and stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Manage, administer, and maintain enterprise VMware environments, including vSphere, vCenter, vSAN, NSX, VMware Cloud Foundation, and Log Insight. Support and maintain physical and virtual server infrastructure across enterprise environments. Administer and troubleshoot network systems, hardware, software, and related infrastructure components. Support operating systems including Microsoft Windows Server, Red Hat, Linux, and Linux-based appliances. Perform system monitoring, optimization, patch management, upgrades, and lifecycle planning. Administer core infrastructure services including Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, and related network services. Support data backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes. Design, implement, and maintain complex enterprise systems and infrastructure solutions. Troubleshoot technical issues related to virtualization, networking, servers, storage, operating systems, and enterprise applications. Participate in infrastructure projects and ensure assigned tasks are completed on time. Document system configurations, procedures, issues, resolutions, and technical recommendations. Collaborate with technical teams, vendors, business users, and stakeholders to support infrastructure needs. Respond to urgent technical, system, or emergency issues outside normal business hours when required, remotely or onsite. Perform other related IT infrastructure and systems administration duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Minimum 5 years of VMware administration experience. Minimum 5 years of networking systems administration experience. Hands-on experience with VMware technologies such as vSphere, vCenter, vSAN, NSX, VMware Cloud Foundation, and Log Insight. Experience administering physical servers, virtual servers, and enterprise infrastructure. Experience with Microsoft Windows Server, Red Hat, Linux, and Linux appliances. Strong understanding of networking concepts, server infrastructure, virtualization, storage, and systems administration. Experience with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, backup, recovery, patching, and system maintenance. Experience designing, implementing, maintaining, and optimizing complex IT systems. Experience with system lifecycle planning, patch management, upgrades, and performance tuning. Ability to manage technical projects, meet deadlines, and support multiple priorities. Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to collaborate effectively with peers, technical teams, vendors, and stakeholders. Must be available to respond to critical system or emergency issues outside normal business hours when needed. Preferred Skills Experience supporting enterprise or government IT environments. Experience with disaster recovery planning and business continuity support. Experience creating technical documentation, infrastructure diagrams, and operational procedures. Experience supporting highly available, secure, and compliance-driven infrastructure environments. Experience working in hybrid onsite/remote environments. Ideal Candidate Profile The ideal candidate is a hands-on infrastructure professional with deep VMware and networking experience who can take ownership of complex systems, troubleshoot critical issues, communicate clearly, and support reliable enterprise IT operations. This person should be comfortable working in a fast-paced technical environment, handling both day-to-day administration and project-based infrastructure improvements. Work Location Requirement This is a hybrid role based in Harrisburg, PA. Candidates must be able to work onsite at least 2 days per week. Important Compliance Requirement Government-issued equipment may not be taken or used outside of the United States. Compliance with this requirement is mandatory.
