Position: Vice President for Content Strategy Location: Remote, up to 10% of expected travel for in-person team meetings and events. Deadline to apply: October 31, 2025 Who We Are The States Forum (TSF) is a network of thinkers and practitioners whose goal is to generate and disseminate policy ideas to meaningfully improve people’s lives. TSF grounds those ideas in the American Promise found in the Declaration of Independence, across four underlying principles: effective government, fair markets, representative democracy, and personal freedom. The States Forum will offer an affirmative vision of American liberalism that also reflects what the majority of people in this country want: to make it possible for everyone to support themselves and their families throughout their lives, to protect Americans' individual rights and liberties, and to fight to create equal opportunity so that young people can do better, not worse, than their parents did. The States Forum will:Seed new ideas in the ecosystem through partnerships with universities, state-level think tanks, entrepreneurial policymakers, and other aligned entitiesInvest in qualitative research to help develop evidence-based framing around the American Promise to more effectively communicate solutionsCreate ongoing and innovative written, graphic, and video content to be disseminated through the TSF Substack and the TSF journal, our social media channels, and earned media. The States Forum will drive a national conversation around state policy, providing a platform for bold, creative ideas to meet voters where they are, reassure them that our democracy can function effectively, and inspire them to fight for our country. Position Details This is a full-time, exempt, at-will position. The team currently operates remotely, with occasional in-person team meeting days. Some travel will be required. Additional evening and weekend hours are occasionally required to fulfill the duties of this position. The Opportunity The Vice President for Content Strategy will be the creative and strategic lead for all TSF content, overseeing message development, production of various communications media products, distribution strategy, and network engagement and growth across platforms. This role will help shape the public voice of the effort, working with issue experts and the journal’s editor to translate research and policy ideas into persuasive, accessible, and compelling narratives for a diverse set of audiences, to include academics, thought leaders, state policymakers, and the press. This is a senior leadership role requiring a mix of creativity, policy and political acumen, and interest in joining a startup. Our ideal candidate has experience in shaping national- or state-level policy conversations, leading high-performing content teams, and building engaged audiences. They are a creative and talented communicator who brings both strong judgment and a bit of audacity to the role. They can tell a great story, turn complex information into compelling content, and use evidence to drive content decisions. The ideal candidate is also accountable to deadlines and a fun person to work with. What You Will Do Serve as a trusted resource to the Operations and Finance Team to support the mission and vision of Future Now. Responsibilities This position will support critical aspects of the Operations Team. These include: What You Will Do • Financial Analysis and Reporting • Work closely with departments to gather and reconcile financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and completeness. • Track and analyze financial data against established financial targets and standardize reporting including performing data analytics. • Partner closely with internal teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and assist with month-end close process to ensure timely receipt of all pertinent financial data. • Prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly financial reports that are used to monitor/track expenses and revenue, spending and project cashflow and cash ending fund balances to optimize allocation of cash resources. • Prepare a variety of financial reports for use by managers and other employees in making financial decisions. Develop specialized expenditure reports as needed. • Review management proposals to verify analyses and ensure that proposals are within budget limits. • Provide support in maintaining a service/cost reallocation budget system and conducting “cost of services” analysis. • Analyze, interpret, research and answer questions pertaining to financial reports, monthly budgets and related subjects. • Prepare various analyses and ad hoc reporting as requested by Operations management. • Database & Systems Management • Capture, enhance and maintain large volumes of financial data. • Maintain financial reporting system using accounting and spreadsheet software. • Enter data into the computerized budget system. • Reconcile program financial accounts. • Assist in maintaining the budget and financial systems and policies. • Build out new reporting models, or database systems as requested by Operations management. • Create and implement automations to support various data workflows. • Assist in administration of org-wide technology platforms and softwares. • Proactively review organizational software investments to promote a highly effective and efficient tech stack. • Support cybersecurity goals through regular review of user roles within the software managed by the Operations Team. • Conduct training and provide individual support on organizational systems. • Gather qualitative feedback on user experience. • Operations Coordination and Event Planning • Research and develop meaningful relationships with vendors to promote organizational needs. • Mitigate vendor risk by vetting vendors and venues through video meetings and in person site visits. • Conduct initial review of vendor documents including but not limited to proposals, contracts, and BEOs. • Negotiate contracts in alignment with stakeholder goals and financial interests. • Provide day-of-event support including logistics management, vendor coordination, and technological support. • Develop internal promotional materials and stakeholder proposals. • Serve as a project manager, supporting events from inception to execution. • Special projects, as assigned. • Perform other duties or projects as assigned by supervisor in support of Future Now’s mission and vision. • Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance or related field. • A minimum of two years direct experience working in a finance-related role • Must have a working knowledge of computerized accounting and budgeting systems. • Must have sufficient understanding of accounting principles to maintain fiscal record keeping and accurate up-to-date budget. • Working knowledge of finance, accounting and office standards and practices.Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace. • Extensive knowledge of advanced MS Excel and Google Sheets functions. • High levels of focus and the ability to work with and accurately process large volumes of financial data. • Strong numerical ability and excellent communication skills (written & verbal). • Problem solver with aptitude to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. • Strong attention to detail with outstanding time management, multitasking and organizational skills. • Ability and commitment to handle confidential and sensitive information levels of the organization. • Proven ability to produce a significant volume of work under pressure with close attention to detail. • Professionalism of the highest caliber and a positive attitude. • A commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. • Proven ability to work independently while functioning as part of a team. • Desired Qualifications • Working knowledge of Airtable, QuickBooks and Google Docs. $100,000 - $106,000 a year Benefits: The position offers a competitive benefits package. Compensation: The salary for this position is $100,000 - $106,000 per year*.
