Build and maintain automated infrastructure, improve developer workflows, implement security and operational standards, and ensure maintainable infrastructure-as-code.
Experience with Cloudflare ecosystem, infrastructure-as-code, modern deployment tooling, database operations, security practices, and strong communication skills.
Why You're Here We're building Fuser — an AI-native creative platform for professionals. We've shipped a public beta with a solid foundation: multiplayer infrastructure, a node-based canvas, 50+ AI integrations, and 100k+ lines of code. Now we need to scale our infrastructure with the same care we've put into the product. As our DevOps contractor, you'll work directly with our CTO and founding engineers to build robust, automated infrastructure that keeps our team moving fast without breaking things. This is a hands-on role focused on infrastructure-as-code, developer experience, and system reliability. What You'll Do • Improve developer environments and workflows to reduce friction and environment-specific bugs • Build automation and tooling that enables faster, safer deployments and testing • Design infrastructure strategies that support our growing engineering team • Implement security best practices and operational standards across our stack • Ensure all infrastructure is maintainable, auditable, and follows IaC principles What You'll Bring • Deep Cloudflare expertise — Workers, Durable Objects, R2, Containers, and the broader CF ecosystem • Infrastructure-as-code mindset — Everything should be versioned, reproducible, and maintainable • Experience with modern deployment tooling — GitHub Actions, CI/CD pipelines, preview environments • Database operations knowledge — Branching strategies, migrations, backups, and replication • Security-first approach — Secrets management, environment isolation, access controls • Strong communication skills — You'll be working with a small, fast-moving engineering team Bonus Points For • Experience with tRPC, Hono, or similar TypeScript-first frameworks • Background in developer tooling or platform engineering • Familiarity with real-time multiplayer infrastructure • Open-source contributions • Experience supporting creative or AI-native product companies Our Stack Frontend: React 19, React Router 7, Zustand, React Flow, Three.js Backend: Cloudflare Workers, tRPC, Drizzle ORM, PartyKit, Durable Objects Database & Storage: Supabase (PostgreSQL), D1, DO, R2 AI Integrations: 50+ APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Runway, FAL, and more) How We Work • Remote-friendly — Work from anywhere in the U.S. • LA-based core team — Collaborate async via Slack and regular check-ins • High trust, high ownership — We value autonomy and clear communication • Small team, big impact — Your work directly shapes how engineers ship • Infrastructure-as-code first — Everything you build should be maintainable by the team long-term Compensation & Engagement • Monthly contract with option for renewal based on project needs and fit • Flexible hours — Async-first with overlap for key meetings • Competitive contractor rates — Commensurate with experience How We Interview • Intro Call — Meet a founding engineer to discuss your background, our needs, and how we work • Technical Conversation — Walk through your approach to infrastructure challenges similar to ours • Small initial scoped project — We start a paid contract with a small scope and a quick turnaround (<2 weeks) • Ongoing relationship — If all of the above goes well, we will offer you a longer contract (1 month) with options for renewal We welcome candidates who may not have the “right” title or background but have the skills, mindset, and drive to build with us. At Fuser, the process is the point. Fuser is a creative technology company founded by artists, educators, and engineers. We’re building tools for professionals who ideate, orchestrate, and deliver with intention. Our flagship product is a collaborative canvas for working across text, image, video, audio, and 3D, powered by the latest AI models. We’re a small team in Los Angeles designing the future of creative software: joyful, intuitive, and powerful tools for real-world storytelling and production.
