Campaign Lead (Independent Contractor | 1099) Location: Twin Cities Metropolitan Area (Hybrid) Compensation: Monthly Retainer of $4,200–$4,900 (approximately 60–70 hours/month) Reports to: Founder & CEO About Fundraising Sol Fundraising Sol is a women-owned and women-led boutique fundraising consulting firm based in Minneapolis. We partner primarily with small and mid-sized nonprofits across Minnesota to plan, execute, and successfully deliver ambitious fundraising efforts, with a particular focus on capital campaigns. Our approach is highly relational. We are trusted partners who help organizations build confidence, strengthen leadership teams and donor relationships, and create sustainable fundraising programs that support their missions for years to come. While much of our work is conducted virtually, our consultants regularly meet with clients throughout the Twin Cities and greater Minnesota. This role includes local travel (no overnight travel required), and travel time is included as part of the monthly engagement. About the Opportunity: We’re looking for an experienced fundraising professional to join our growing consulting team as a Campaign Lead. Position Summary: The Campaign Lead serves as the primary strategist and relationship manager for a portfolio of Fundraising Sol clients. This individual leads campaign planning and execution while ensuring clients receive thoughtful guidance, consistent communication, and exceptional service. Campaign Lead owns the day-to-day leadership of their assigned engagements while collaborating closely with the Founder & CEO and internal support team. Fundraising Sol owns the client relationship, campaign methodology, tools, templates, and overall client experience. Campaign Leads are responsible for leading client engagements using those proven systems while exercising sound judgment, maintaining consistency, and adapting strategies to each organization’s unique needs. The Founder & CEO serves as the strategic advisor for complex campaign decisions, high-level messaging, business development, and situations requiring executive leadership. Typical Portfolio Campaign Leads generally manage: ● 3–5 active client engagements ● Approximately 60–70 hours per month ● A mix of campaign planning, feasibility studies, campaign counsel, donor discovery, and strategic fundraising coaching Primary Responsibilities: Client Leadership ● Serve as the primary relationship manager for assigned clients. ● Lead campaign committee and steering committee meetings. ● Facilitate productive discussions and decision-making. ● Maintain campaign momentum. ● Provide strategic fundraising counsel. ● Coach nonprofit leaders and volunteers throughout the campaign process. ● Help clients navigate challenges and opportunities. Campaign Strategy ● Guide campaign planning, donor discussions/feasibility, and implementation. ● Coach organizations through donor identification, qualification, cultivation, and solicitation. ● Develop solicitation strategies. ● Assist with prospect prioritization. ● Review strategy memos. ● Help create campaign timelines and action plans based on prospect/donor pipeline, and (if applicable) construction and financing timetables. Project Leadership ● Prepare meeting agendas. ● Complete timely meeting follow-up. ● Monitor action items. ● Provide clients with a monthly “progress toward goal” report. ● Keep projects moving forward. ● Coordinate with Campaign Associate and other members of the Fundraising Sol team. Team Collaboration ● Participate in internal strategy meetings. ● Escalate strategic or relationship concerns early. ● Share ideas and best practices. ● Help strengthen Fundraising Sol’s systems, templates, and client resources. Founder & CEO Responsibilities: The Founder & CEO continues to lead: ● Business development and sales ● Client onboarding (with Client Concierge) ● Final campaign strategy ● High-level campaign messaging ● Major client escalations ● Proposal development ● Quality assurance ● Team coaching and mentoring Engagement Structure Campaign Leads are engaged on a monthly retainer based on the anticipated scope of client work. ● Monthly retainer: $4,200–$4,900 ● Equivalent to approximately 60–70 hours per month ● Based on a consulting rate of $70 per hour Annual equivalent: Approximately $50,400–$58,800, depending on the size of the client portfolio and monthly workload. The monthly workload may fluctuate based on active client engagements, with most Campaign Leads averaging between 60 and 70 hours per month. What You’ll Need: ● Significant nonprofit fundraising experience, including major gifts and capital campaign strategy. ● Experience leading fundraising strategy with nonprofit executives, boards, and volunteers. ● Excellent facilitation and relationship-building skills. ● Confidence in making sound decisions in real time. ● Strong organizational and project management abilities. ● Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. ● A flexible weekday schedule. ● Reliable transportation. ● Residence in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. ● Ability to travel locally to client meetings throughout the Twin Cities and surrounding communities (no overnight travel anticipated). Technology & Workspace: Because our team works in a hybrid environment, Campaign Leads should be comfortable learning new technology and using digital tools to deliver an exceptional client experience. Experience with (or the ability to quickly learn): ● Zoom or similar virtual meeting platforms ● ClickUp or similar project management software ● Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Gmail, Calendar) ● Microsoft Word and Excel ● CRM or donor database software (Little Green Light, Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce, Bloomerang, or similar) Campaign Leads are expected to provide: ● A reliable personal computer ● A dependable mobile phone ● High-speed internet access ● A professional home workspace suitable for confidential client meetings Working Agreements Campaign Leads agree to: ● Maintain proactive communication with clients and the Fundraising Sol team. ● Respond to client communications in a timely manner during their scheduled workdays. ● Escalate strategic or relationship concerns promptly. ● Ask questions early rather than allowing projects to stall. ● Complete meeting follow-up promptly. ● Represent Fundraising Sol with professionalism, warmth, and consistency. ● Participate in regular internal strategy meetings. ● Support continuous improvement of templates, SOPs, and campaign resources. Success Looks Like: A successful Campaign Lead: ● Builds trusted relationships with clients. ● Demonstrates confidence and sound judgment in real-time client situations. ● Makes thoughtful decisions while knowing when to seek additional guidance. ● Keeps campaigns moving consistently without requiring frequent oversight. ● Follows Fundraising Sol’s systems, templates, protocols, and quality standards. ● Maintains a positive, collaborative, and solution-oriented attitude. ● Anticipates challenges before they become problems. ● Delivers strategic counsel—not simply project management. ● Helps clients feel confident, supported, and well cared for. ● Creates a seamless client experience while allowing the Founder & CEO to focus on strategic leadership, firm growth, and business development.
