About the Company Windscribe is a leading cyber security and privacy company launched in April 2016 and has already accumulated 70 million users. Our goal is to transform the internet with easy-to-use yet powerful privacy and security tools that allow anyone to circumvent censorship, access geographically restricted content, and minimize their exposure to marketers, criminals, and surveillance dragnets. Our well-received applications have appeared on Lifehacker, Techradar, and CNET. We are looking to add a Senior AI Frontend Engineer to our Web Team to join in the development of adding exciting new features to our global anycast DNS service controld.com, as well as collaborate in the execution of a complete overhaul of the windscribe.com web interface used by millions of users. About the Role As a Frontend AI Engineer, you'll design and deliver high-quality, intuitive, and performant web interfaces that delight end users. You'll leverage modern AI-assisted development tools to ship elegant solutions quickly and efficiently. The focus is on simplicity, speed, and quality — improving both individual and team velocity through AI-driven workflows, ensuring consistent release cycles with minimal bugs, regressions, and rapid turnaround times. Responsibilities • 4+ years of experience in frontend development • Recently transitioned to Next.js and modern frameworks • Leverage AI tools to accelerate product and domain understanding • Write performant, maintainable code with clear documentation • Partner closely with design to resolve issues before implementation • Identify and propose solutions for UX/UI improvements • Prioritize simplicity and quick resolution during code reviews • Think critically and challenge requirements to ensure quality outcomes • Translate business goals into actionable product roadmaps • Demonstrate successful workflows and share learnings with the team • Collaborate to efficiently delegate and track project deliverables • Ensure on-time, high-quality release cycles • Contribute to all phases: coding, testing, debugging, and iteration • Develop internal tools to automate or streamline repetitive workflows Qualifications Must-Haves • Must be based near EST time zone and available to work Eastern Time hours (Canada, US, Europe preferred) • Excellent knowledge of browser security practices (CSRF, CORS, etc) • Excellent knowledge of computer science fundamentals (stack, heap, pointers, data structures, algorithms, etc) • Excellent knowledge of web technologies and tools like JavaScript, TypeScript, React (or similar modern framework) • Understanding of software design principles and ability to write clear, clean, maintainable code that scales • Experience with NextJS (Gatsby would be a nice to have) • Experience investigating and improving JavaScript performance • Good understanding of web and networking protocols (HTTP, TLS, TCP/IP, DNS, etc) • Experience with web performance best practices (Caching, SSR vs SSG) Nice-to-Haves • Experience maintaining open source software • Experience with building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines • Experience with Grafana • Experience with Directus About You • Eager to adopt emerging technologies and workflows • Proven track record of high-velocity development (personal or professional) • "Get it done" mentality with a bias toward action and simplicity over perfectionism • Deep obsession with driving the mission forward and making an impact • Build because you love it, it's part of your life, not just your job Our Benefits and Perks • Downtown Toronto Office, where you can spend your time building products that millions of people use every day and browse the web privately, the way it was meant to be • Take a break in the office with entertainments like VR stations with dozens of games, foosball, TV, PlayStation • Stock option program, yearly bonuses, and opportunities for advancement (Based on performance) • Comprehensive vision and dental plan • Wellness programs (Subscription to meditation apps, etc.) • 3 weeks paid vacation as well as holidays (Christmas) week off #li-remote #li-jm1 Thank you for considering this opportunity.
