1-2 years HIM acute care experience, AHIMA recognized coding certification (RHIA/RHIT, CCS, CCA, CPC), knowledge of Medicare NCDs and LCDs, and ability to collaborate with clinical and administrative teams.

FTE: 0.500000 Standard Hours: 20.00 Shift: Shift 1 Shift Details: Holidays: Weekends: Job Summary: This is a remote, advanced level position functioning under minimal supervision and utilizing independent decision making. This position is responsible for reviewing documentation in the electronic health record and accurately assigning ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes, CPT codes and modifiers, in an effort to resolve coding and claim edit errors. These edits include: Medicare's National Coverage Determinations (NCDs) and Local Coverage Determinations (LCDs) and CCI edits. The Fiscal Analyst identifies coding trends to determine coding areas which may need education and focused review and assists Coding Management in developing and presenting education and training materials. This position involves frequent communication and collaboration with care providers, clinical managers, Compliance, PFS, Charge Master Coordinator and the IT department. The candidate will attend scheduled meetings and complete required continuing education. This position requires adaptability and attention to detail, in depth knowledge of coding classification systems (ICD-10-CM and CPT) and applicable computer software. Other duties as assigned. EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION: One to two years of HIM experience in an acute care environment is required. Experience in an academic facility is preferred. EDUCATION DESCRIPTION: Degree or certificate in AHIMA recognized certified coding program is required. Appropriate education or experience may be substituted on equivalent basis of: Two years of progressively responsible charging/coding experience with exposure to medical necessity LCD"s and NCD's. Associate degree in HIM or equivalent is preferred. LICENSURE DESCRIPTION: Certified RHIA/RHIT, CCS, CCA or CPC is required. Compensation, Benefits & Perks at Froedtert Health Pay is expected to be between: (expressed as hourly) $23.20 - $34.34. Final compensation is based on experience and will be discussed with you by the recruiter during the interview process.
