Job Title: Sous Chef Department: Kitchen Reports To: Executive Chef Summary Administer all aspects of the kitchen to deliver excellent guest and team member experience by managing food provisions, assisting guest queries, controlling costs and maintaining sanitary conditions. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Include The Following • Estimate food requirements, take inventory and prepare vendor orders controlling costs meeting. • Memorize banquet and restaurant menus, promotions and specials. • Monitor refrigeration and cooking temperature to uphold requirements. • Supervise kitchen staff efficiently delegating tasks and resolving issues. • Schedule staff according to business needs and managing time of needs. • Wash, butcher, chop, season, cook and test food to ensure the highest quality. • Ensure equipment, tools and utensils are used properly and are in good condition. Adhere to brand standards for plating and presentation. • Maintain sanitary conditions regularly inspecting and cleaning area. • Stand in for the Executive Chef on demand. Requirements • Strong ability to multitask and work in a fast paced environment. • Ability to communicate effectively with guests and team members. • Effectively incentivize performance and discipline underperformance. • Natural drive to go above and beyond expectations of the role. Physical Requirements Frequency Key: Never = 0 hrs; Rare = up to 1 hr; Occasional = 1-3 hrs; Frequent = 3-6 hrs; Constant = 6-8 hrs Qualification Standards Education: Culinary degree preferred. Experience: Minimum (2) two years of previous high volume kitchen experience required. Licenses or Certifications: None required. Notice Friendwell Managed Hotels function twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
